Hello everyone… i just need advice on grieving… my grandfather is given a week to live, and i just broke down. He lives on the other side of the world, so it is impossible for me too see him as the expenses are high. Please give me advice and pray for my grandfather…

I have no advice, except to trust in God’s love and mercy for your grandfather. If you can, let him know you are praying for him.
Grieving is hard. It has ups and downs, and it’s something we have to just live through as best we can. A Grief Observed, by C.S. Lewis, is a good look at how a kind and Christian man lived through his grief.
I’m praying for comfort and strength for you and your family.

If you don’t do so already, you might both appreciate a talk on Skype or a similar app. I’m sorry you are going through something so hard. When my paternal grandma passed, I was discouraged from seeing her. I think my aunts felt I was “in the way” or that my grandma wouldn’t have wanted me to see her sick, though I don’t think she really felt that way. I was really close to her and it was hard not to be able to see her. God bless!

I would like to offer you these two Biblical verses, I think they will help you feel more at ease. Both my grandfathers died this past year so I understand your sadness, one of my grandfathers was told he had 3 weeks and he lived for 3 more years! I also have said a few prayers for your grandfather including the Prayer of St. Francis below. If you would like anymore Bible verses just let me know here or in PM and I can send you some more 🙂

”Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.” - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” - 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Lord make me an instrument of your peace
Where there is hatred let me sow love
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith
Where there is despair, hope
Where there is darkness, light
And where there is sadness, joy

O divine master grant that I may
not so much seek to be consoled as to console
to be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love
For it is in giving that we receive
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it’s in dying that we are born to eternal life
Amen.
