Growing up in the Post-Vatican II Church

I wanted to post this in the thread about the Portland parish protesters, but I couldn’t find it on Youtube. Finally found it under an acronym. I like this clip, not only because I get to see vintage Philly and the song is a nifty pop gem, but because it reminds me of what it was like to grow up in the post-Vatican II church. By the time I was a young teen, I thought that being a religious sister meant you would be doing this on a regular basis, unless you shipped out to the missions and went to some war zone where troops would probably be shooting at you.

For those who remember this film, I always get a chuckle out of the “progressive” priest played by Van Johnson as well.

My mother was more the Rosalind Russell type.

Ever see Mass Appeal? That movie is a real ‘80s throwback and is pretty hilarious to see today, especially with its “progressive” view of the Church.
