Thanks for the suggestion.

My only interaction with the Angels is when I pray to St. Michael or pray the Guardian Angel prayer. I usually focus on Jesus.
It is possible to be aware of the angels, and still be focused on our Lord Jesus Christ. (didn’t want you to think they are taking His place due to the awareness of them.)

Do you have a relationship with yours? I’m not sure “relationship” is the right word, but do you speak to your guardian angel? How often do you think of your Guardian Angel? Do you feel your Guardian Angel’s presence in your life?

I’ve always had trouble believing I have an angel devoted to me. How can I start to change this?
I actually do while recovering from a near death experience. I ask him to tell me his name and he did in a dream that was so profound to leave me no doubt.

I pray to my guardian angel sometimes, but I wonder, “What if he’s off somewhere else and not even listening?”

But maybe they attend Mass with us…

Because your guardian angel was appointed by the Lord, he is not off somewhere and not listening to you.

Their first priority is to inspire you to do the right thing, thereby drawing you closer to the Lord.

I thought I read in one of Mother Angelica’s books that she named her Guardian Angel.

Padre Pio:
“…Angel of God, my Angel…Are you not taking care of me?…Are you a creature of God?…Either you’re a creature of God or a creator…You’re a creator? No? Therefore you are God’s creature and you must have laws which you must obey…You must stay beside me whether you want to or not…He laughs…what is there to laugh about? Tell me one thing…who was here yesterday morning?…He laughs…an Angel laughs!…Tell me …I won’t leave you until you tell me…”
“Angel of God, my Angel” that is what how I address my guardian angel.

I thought St. Padre Pio encouraged Joe Peluso to give his Guardian Angel a nickname?

I will admit the only times I have thought about my angel is during the guardian angel prayer we used to say before the school dismisses us.

Although now looking back, there was a time when I was hit by a car. No internal bleeding or fractures. Was annoyed that I was still alive but now I feel that it could be my angel…that or the fact that the car wasn’t moving that quickly, haha.

But generally, I don’t have a relationship with my angel. I am mildly surprised that I have one, one would think that my angel is standing at the corner chain-smoking right now. 🙂

No name for my guardian angel, but I now thank him daily for all the close care and watching I have received over my lifetime (of 70 years). There was one particular instance many, many years ago where I really had no reason to still be alive, other than through heavenly intercession. I just hope my angel isn’t ashamed of me when I pass to the other side.

Yes, daily prayer, from Concession 18 (Manual of Indulgences, USCCB 2006) with partial indulgence, as shown below.

**Concession 18 **

Prayers to One’s Guardian Angel
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who devoutly invoke the care of their guardian Angel with a duly approved prayer (e.g. Angele Dei).

Angele Dei:

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom his love entrusts me here,
enlighten and guard,
rule and guide me.
Amen.
