Todays RCIA class at catechismclass.com noted that today was in honor of our Guardian Angels. Angels with UNCONDITIONAL love. That’'s a tall order for someone like me, How does one develop this kind of love? But no matter what we do, say, or think, our Guardian Angels never leave us and never stop loving us. What a grace unconditional love must be.

Guardian Angel, I am deeply remorseful for all the pain I must have put you through for my previous actions. Thank you for somehow steering me to my current path

The angels are immortal beings that made their decision to serve God or not when they were created. They cannot change, therefore their love or their hate is perpetual. I too am deeply grateful for the love of my guardian angel, and know that he is helping me in this life, and more importantly, to gain the joys of heaven in the next.

There’s a very nice prayer to our Guardian Angel that I say often:

Blessed Guardian Angel, pray for me. Guide, protect, and correct me that you may be able to present me before our God at the judgment, holy, perfected in love, and with many fruits in my hands to offer him. Amen.

I recommend a book called **All About The Angels **by Father Paul O’Sullivan, O.P. (E.D.M.).

I recommend everything by Doreen Virtue Ph.D
Im a 15 year old alterserver and because of her know a lot about angels and i know my angels name

Take care tman07: You raised a flag on my radar:

From: Directory on Popular Piety and Liturgy:

The practice of assigning names to the Holy Angels should be discouraged, except in the cases of Gabriel, Raphael and Michael whose names are contained in Holy Scripture.

Checkout: catholicculture.org/lit/calendar/day.cfm

Discerning the name of your Guardian Angel comes suspicuosly close to the practice of “divining”. Cross reference CCC: 2118-2122. Don’t worry, your intent wasn’t of this magnitude but after reading you are now more aware and make you a better Altar Server. The older I get the more there is to know.

but what about Melchisedec he is an angel who we call upon sometimes in mass

(One day I’ll learn how to spell, too.-LOL) But that’s in Liturgy-an approved authority reviewed the citation. Remember, investigate and cross reference from several sources, that’s a hallmark of Catholic practise-taking things as a whole and not out of context.

Uh oh…I already have most of Doreen’s stuff, and in fact use her oracle decks. Not to forsee the future, but for guidence today. But if even that is a no-no, I guess I’ll have to retire the decks.😦

Are Doreen’s book to be read or thrown out:confused:

He was an OT prophet and a precusor of the High Priestly office of Christ, which is why he is mentioned in the Mass. He definitely was not an angel. 🙂

I’m not particularly fond of the practise of anming guardian angels or asking for their names, but I was wondering whether the Directory refers more to the practise of assigning names based on apocryphal works usually to make up the number of 7 names. One of the best known because it usually comes with the Three Holy Archangels is Uriel.

Mother Angelica said to ask your guardian angel his name, just to make the relationship more personal. I think this issue raises red flags because of all the new age abuses regarding angels(and just about everything else.) My guardian angels name is Love, anyway thats how I think of him(especially if I’m asking for some help).
