Guidance Needed

I recently had a conversation with a young lady while tending a right to life booth regarding aborted children. She had had an abortion and was wondering “What will my child look like when I see him/her in Heaven?”. I’m curious about this also, as I couldn’t really answer her very well. I stumbled over glorified bodies and that we’ll all recognize each other, etc., but I wasn’t particularly eloquent. Any ideas?

Well, if you follow Aquinas, all of us will be thirty (the perfect age during his time). Jesus also looked different after the resurrection with his glorified body. Our glorified bodies will probably display unique features to us, but be in perfect health (no one will be overweight and no scars of any sort). Most important, we each will display a degree of God’s glory depending upon our reward, and the reflection of His Glory through us is more beauty than ever could be beheld here on earth. What it looks like, no one could fathom. After Aquinas saw the beauty of heaven in a dream, he told his scribes to burn all his works because they did not compare to the true beauty which he tried to describe. Hoped this helped!

Thank God his scribes didn’t do it! The rest of us could certainly use the good Doctor’s help in joining him in heaven.

Scullinus, I actually didn’t ask her if she had confessed because I’m pretty sure she wasn’t catholic. However, the pain in her voice and on her face leads me to believe that she has repented, and probably will continue to do so for the rest of her life.
