I was unable to receive Communion today because I ended up getting to confession late on Friday, so earlier today at mass, I tried to focus on the gift of the Eucharist and pray and so on. I just tried to find the song they used as the first Communion song today, but I can’t find it. According to the song sheet, the title was “Receive” if I’m not mistaken.

In any case, it just hit me at that moment that after the consecration, that small circle of bread had become the body of the Creator of the entire universe, and how unimaginable it was that He humbled Himself not only to become man, but that He continues to do so for our sake at every mass, all out of love for us. I can’t really do the gravity of the thought process I had justice with words, but it was just the thought that, what was moments ago a small circle of bread was now the Body of our very reason for existence, and it struck me why St. Padre Pio would stop for so long during the consecration.
Just posting this as I guess a prayer of thanksgiving to God for the understanding I came to at mass today, and felt like sharing it. God bless! Time to finish my rosary and go to bed!
