Hail, full of Grace

We often use the thread title in the Hail Mary, which seems to come from translations such as the RSV. The problem for me is that I have no background whatsoever in knowing what the original text said. I have heard Protestants used “Hail, favored one,” or something of similar effect. How can we know which translation is correct?

This article covers your question, about half way down under “The Name Says it All”. It talks about the Greek word used.

As said, the Greek was “full of Grace.” Any Protestant translation that uses another phrase is just incorrectly changed to support their beliefs.
