JHWH is used as the Name of the God of Israel several thousand times throughout the course of the Old Testament. I would think that would be sufficient evidence that “some people on this thread” are wrong.

Is it a candidate for the answer to the question? If not, why not?
Dunno myself, maybe elohim and eloi are related?

If so, then maybe it could possibly b applicable to “eloi eloi lama sabachthani”…

What about Elisha?

Isn’t Elisha one of God’s names, too?

I mean, like in John, when he says:
And this is the testimony of John. When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites [to him] to ask him, “Who are you?” he admitted and did not deny it, but admitted, “I am not the Messiah.” So they asked him, “What are you then? Are you Elijah?” And he said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.

I dont know much about Elijah, but I always get him confused with the Messiah and God because of this statement. The name is definitely used a lot.

As for the prophet in question, I dont get who they are referring to either…?

That’s all a little off-topic, I guess, but its an interesting question… at least to review and keep things straight…

They are related. The Hebrew word eloah is the singular, “god”. Elohim is the plural, “gods,” and is also used in reference to THE God, as in Genesis 1:1. Eloi is the Greek form of the Hebrew Elohi, “my God”. There is no way to write the intervocalic “h” in Greek, so it was dropped.

No; Elisha is one of the OT prophets. His name means "My God is Salvation. Elisha - Wikipedia

Elijah’s full name was Eliyahu, meaning “my God is JHWH”. Malachi prophesied that he would return before the Day of the Lord, so when John the Baptist came prophesying and baptizing, people thought (and he denied) that he was Elijah. However, Gabriel had told Zecheriah that he would act in the “spirit and power of Elijah,” not that he would be Elijah in the flesh, and John himself denied that he was Elijah.
