I don’t have much of a love for faith, but I do want to praise one of the more sincere examples in pop culture on doing it right. Here’s two scenes from King of the Hill. A quick setup: Bobby (the son) starts hanging out with some teens who are part of a church led by a pastor who performs Christian rock concerts, skateboarding, tattoos etc. Hank (the father) allows it at first, but then decides he doesn’t want his son to be a part of that (the family is Methodist). Bobby sneaks out to perform with the pastor at one of his shows. The second scene back home shows why Hank was hesitant about Bobby’s participation, and it’s just really well done.

King of the Hill is amazing. “You’re not making Christianity better, you’re just making rock and roll worse” is like a stock joke between my brother in law and I whenever Christian rock comes on the radio.

King of the Hill is basically my favorite animated show. It’s just good television. I was pretty sad when I learned it was taken off air.

It’s not a spin-off but made by the same guy. It’s definitely more autobiographical about Mike Judge’s life in Texas than something like Beavis and Butthead.

This was very well done.

The box of stuff in the garage, the electronic pet, and the Members Only jacket (yes, I still have one, and I still wear it) all hit very close to home for me.

Judging from the continuity announcer at the end of the show, this must have been recorded from Sky One in Britain.
