According to the Bible and to the Church teachers:
  1. what is happiness?
  2. how to attain it?
  3. what are the obstacles to attain it?
 
  1. Finally knowing that their is God who totally loves me for ME.
  2. Believing that He loves me and wants only the best for me. Being in constant prayer with Him and following His commandments. Receiving the sacraments.
  3. Our own pride
These may not be from scripture or church fathers, but they are My reasons.
 
the prescription straight from the mouth of Christ for happiness is summarized in Matthew chapter 5 verses 3-23 , the Beatitudes
 
  1. that first moment one realizes they have been adopted by God … upon feeling truely forgiven and experiencing His Love within
  2. prayer of total confession and a desire/commitment to be a disciple for life
  3. satan, in all his various manifestations
