during mass, just before communion, the priest says " happy are those who are called to his supper ". Does this mean that those who do not go to communion are , not to be happy ?

That’s right! Any non-communicant who smiles during distribution is summarily ejected from the church by the greeters/bouncers.
Just kidding. Non-communicants can be happy. The priest says, “This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world”. Basically beacuse of this, those called to his supper have this specific reason to be happy.
