Although I am single, I fondly remember my father who passed away Sept. 2002.
I have stated this in some other threads but it is worth repeating here:

My father never was Catholic when I was growing up. My mother was Catholic. After my brother became a priest in 2000, my father was overjoyed. He wanted to live long enough to see my brother Edward become a priest. I told my father, ‘well God may still have something planned for you too.’
In April 2001, at the age of 77, my father was welcomed into the Catholic Church, however it was a week later since he was in the hospital on Easter Vigil.
My father was 78 when he passed on, and it is NEVER too late to look into being a member of Christ’s Church!

What stories, thanks, or memories do you have for your father?

Go with God!

My last fishing trip with my dad we went into the Gulf of Mexico in a 16 foot boat with an outboard engine (it was very calm). We caught so much we filled up our ice chest, but what I remember most is that eight years ago I spent all day alone with my dad. It was the last and only time we ever spent the day together, just the two of us.

My mother and father were divorced when I was very young, and I don’t think I ever saw him over a half dozen times. When he died, it was like going to the funeral of a total stranger. I always felt sort of cheated for not knowing him better. So be thankful for the time you have spent with your father.

Thanks for sharing Davy.

I had a very similar relationship with my dad. He passed away 10 years ago and I never really knew him. I will not let my daughter feel that kind of sadness. I work to keep my marriage strong and we always do things as a family.

Thanks again.

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful Fathers here! May God bless you as work daily to fulfill the promises made on your wedding day to accept children lovingly from God and raise them with faith in the Faith.

A special message to those Fathers of daughters out there: You are the first man your daughter will ever love, and all others will be compared and weighed on your example. Make sure that she has an awesome example that is hard to come by! The greatest gift my Dad gave me was to love me beyond reason. He treated me with respect and when I made mistakes, he helped me to see my errors and to give me encouragement. When I was sad, he allowed me to see his tears of sorrow for me. I grew up under his loving care and married a man who loves me in the same way.

Just a bit of encouragement from a grown woman who is still so grateful to her ‘Daddy’!

Love,
Annie

Edwin, that is beautiful. Thank you. I think I am going to have to go have a good cry now, but I am glad you shared anyway. God bless you for sharing. Thank you. May the memories you have of your father be cherished and the glory of God in bringing him home be the greatest comfort to you. God’s peace eternally be with you.
