I like his approach. I really like his testimony.😃 It comes off as harsh but so many of us are such sissies so some things sting. 🙂 Youth ministries are tough. I was part of a non-denominational team years before my conversion and wish there was more of this with teens in Catholic churches.

They have so many issues they hide…,mutilating, eating disorders, drug abuse- addictions, sex, homosexuality, abortions, suicide, depression, abuse,…on and on.

Many protestant churches have a strong teen outreach program and I love seeing Catholic ones.

I saw the documentary on HBO of his ministry.

You can see a clip of it above.

Has anyone used the Hard As Nails Ministry group at their Church or school? We are thinking of having them out to SF for an 8th Grade confirmation retreat. Anyone have any experience with the Group??

Does the Hard as Nail ministry have the permission of his bishop for this ‘apostolic’ work?? Is he really qualified despite having taught relgion for a few years? I still think he needs to grow up and find a real job in the real world!

Mark
38John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us.”

Jesus replied, "Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me.

For whoever is not against us is for us.

I’ve attended two Hard as Nails events, and I was moved by their fiery enthusiasm for the Lord. They are prayerful, Christ-centered, and they had adoration at one event. Also, they connect well with the youth, even the ‘mean-mugging’ kids. Let us not spread feelings of doubt but instead hope and pray always for their proper growth and formation! Amen!!! YAY GO JESUS!

Interesting that I’d find new posts about this ministry. I saw it on another site.
This is from the HANM site:
Q: How do you deal with the Catholic Church when they reject you? Would you ever consider opening your own church?
Justin: No I am not looking to open up my own church. I am a Catholic, I am a Christian, I am about love and I follow Jesus. The place I learned how to love was through the Catholic Church and the Sacraments, and I can never deny that. I believe in the Church, I am in contact with several bishops. Just because the style of preaching is different doesn’t mean that our doctrine is different. I have had great discussions with the bishops and they support me and Hard as Nails Ministries. For the most part the things I am doing have not been done by anyone in the Catholic Church for centuries. I get my example from the saints. Like I said before - very physical in delivering the message of Jesus, so it is in our tradition.
I think it’s great that Catholics are getting involved in a road ministry like this!

Anyone ever hear of Radix? I don’t know if a touring group still exists, but one of the former leaders (now a family man) is on the On the Rock show on EWTN regularly . I saw them once, and thought it was awesome. Our rel ed director thought they were too, mmm, intense I suppose. Well some people need that intensity to get through to their heart!!

Has anyone seen the movie?

God bless,
Mimi

I am a protestant (currently attending an Evangelical Free Church) and I think Hard as Nails Ministry looks awesome! I was surprised to see that there are “charistmatic” Catholics (Catholics who actually can be passionate about following the Lord, and about Evangelizing). So often when I think of Catholics, I think of people following a bunch of rules and spending hours trying to understand every little detail about the Bible. But not caring about the people around them who go through really difficult times. --I’m not saying Catholics don’t care, but from what I see and hear, they don’t seem to be the most compassionate group of people. (No, I don’t think you need to accept sin to be compassionate either; some people seem to have that idea, though).

It reminds me of my youth group (except HANM is a little more intense).
Almost half of the kids who attend know almost nothing about the Bible, Christianity, Church, etc. They struggle with depression, drugs, alcohol, abuse at home, etc. Of course all of us have problems, but these kids don’t hide it as much as most of us Christians do. I think it’s really important for us as Christians to reach out to kids and to get them to understand the things Jesus went through while he was on Earth. That they have issues they deal with, but so did their God.

I appologize if I seem like I am insulting Catholics. I am just trying to point out what I’ve noticed about Catholics, not trying to be rude.

“Christ Imitator”, I am concerned with your apparent desire to judge Catholics. You cannot come on this forum and decide how people you don’t even know feel about the people around them. I expect it from people, but it doesn’t mean I will sit still and let you get away with broad pronouncements. In the future, if I were you, I would limit my remarks to things I know instead of things I think I know. I personally know many Catholics who do all they can on a voluntary basis for kids of all ages. Being that I am one of those Catholics, I just wanted to challenge you a bit.
In His service,
Stan

I appologize for sounding rude. I was not trying to stereotype Catholocism. I was saying what I’ve noticed. I should also have mentioned there are several protestant denominations that don’t seem to have much focus on evangelizing either. But, I can not say that for individual Churches, because I obviously haven’t been to all of them.
