I once asked a question on here, and it asked something like this:

Why did God create a Universe that is suppose to come to an end?

The current question I have can be considered as branching off of this or the main source of similar questions.

The current question:

**Why is the Universe suppose to come to an end if Adam and Eve were put on this Earth to exist for ALL OF ETERNITY? **

Now, as already indicated on another question I have asked, suffering DID exist before the first humans. Animals “suffered,” and there must have existed physical evil (for example, when the dinosaurs were wiped out). So we can’t say the Fall of Adam caused the eventual end of the Universe.

**So, restating the question, why was Adam and Eve created to exist on Earth for all of eternity if the Universe is suppose to end? **

It’s a paradox. And I really can’t persuade myself to believe that Adam’s sin caused the potential end of the Universe. As in another question, we’ve concluded His sin caused humans the ability to suffer, die, etc…

Have I went to any quick conclusions? Do I have any false conclusions? I have to believe Adam’s sin didn’t cause all of the “evil” (absence of perfection/good) in the world.

Please help!
Any ideas or resources will be appreciated!

Well, why start a cartoon or sitcom if it’s going to have a series finale?

Answer: Entertainment!

I personally believe humanity is only running for God’s experiment or entertainment or, possibly even a game or bet between God and Satan! 😃 I can’t prove anything, of course; it’s just a theory. 😉 Until Death, we can only wonder.

Dear catholic1seeks,
My view of it is this:

God created the world and everything in it to exist for all eternity but when Adam & Eve disobey God, sanctifying grace left their souls. Thus, all of us descendants of Adam and Eve inherits this same condition. Then God sends His only begotten Son to open the gates of heaven for us. The world will then come to an end so that a new one may take its place, a new earth, wherein the people has the sanctifying grace in them, the state in which Adam & Eve were in before they committed sin.

But that’s my point: Adam’s sin didn’t cause the future end of the Universe. We know evil - suffering, physical evil - existed BEFORE Adam and Eve

In the “Glory be…” we pray. “world without end. Amen”. Where do you find that the Universe will end? Yes, after the fall God had to redirect us and send His Son. Humanity did not thwart God’s plan that we should live eternally with Him in a world that knows no tears, pain or death. Paradise lost is paradise restored. We made the changes, not God…teachccd 🙂

What’s the scriptural basis for the question? That is, where does it say God created the universe to exist for all eternity?

Where does the bible say Adam and Eve were created to live on earth for all eternity? And where in the bible does it say the universe will end? Isn’t this a scientific hypothesis?

And if this universe does end, perhaps it gives way to something even better that God will do.

Eye has not seen and ear has not heard what God has ready for those who love him.

I can’t say I have heard directly that Adam and Eve were destined to live for all of eternity, but death was not going to be part of their future (until original sin) . . . so . . .

Does anyone know if this has been covered before?

:compcoff:

Thanks!

Does it say anywhere in scripture that there is an end to the universe (or to the earth for that matter)? If so, please site the specific passage. I was under the impression that there is an END TO TIME, which, btw, is the number one cause of death 😉

Well, I know there will be a “new Earth”. But I also know that science suggests the Universe will come to an “end” (in some sense). And my main problem was that Adam’s sin didn’t cause this potential and future “end” of the Universe, just as original sin didn’t cause the suffering of animals, for example. Because they didn’t cause this potential and future end of the Universe, I’m confused on why they were put on the Earth to exist in eternal happiness (they weren’t destined to die) in the first place.

I know the science behind the “end” of the Universe has to do with the Big Bang Theory, and I didn’t think it opposed our Faith. Like I said, I’ve asked a similar question:

Why did God create a Universe that is suppose to come to an end? (even though we won’t be here to experience it…since Christ will come again & there will be a “new Heaven and Earth”).

So anyone help me if you can! Has any Church Father written about this/evil? 🤷

If I’m messed up on any of this, help! Rather than ask me if there’s any Scriptural evidence relating to any of this, how about you provide evidence to oppose it! 👍

I’m asking because I don’t understand!

Thanks for the awesome answers!

I’ve been reading through some of the articles by Christian scientists from The American Scientific Affiliation (ASA) asa3.org/

They try to reconcile their faith in light of the latest scientific findings in many different fields.

The debate over homo floresiensis is particularly problematic, for here we potentially have a new hominid that was around as late as 18,000 years ago.

Well think about it: if there is no more time then there is no more end to anything 😉

That’s only true in the sense of spiritually, God did not intend for Adam to die eternal death.

I would argue that God is beyond this current existence. The universe will end, but God will live on. What we humans are, are beings in gestation, choosing to die or live with Him in eternal life.
