OK, OK, this is a very Methodist thing I am doing, but I’m Methodist…
I voted that I like Harry Potter. I also think, but did not vote, that HP is innocent fun, but I have to do my disclaimer:
I am a grown woman.
I am not a mother (except of a cat, but 😛 Harry Potter is 😉 no problem there!).
I read whatever I want, & have for decades now.
But–that does not mean that I want anyone to come to a decision about whether their children read HP or see the movies, based on the results of a CAF poll…
I do realize that this was not going to happen, even before I said this, but, as I say, it is one of those very Methodist, well, “things”…We put strong weight upon “if meat cause my brother to offend, I will eat no meat till the world’s end” (St Paul. 1 Corinthians).
OK. I can rest easy in my conscience now.
God bless.

I don’t like Harry Potter, but not because Harry Potter is evil or a “gateway to the occult” (both ideas being absurd). I don’t like Harry Potter because the books simply aren’t that good and movies are dull and utterly predictable.

I expect entertainment to be, well, entertaining.

I don’t feel there’s anything particularly wrong with the series. The messages so far are that good triumphs over evil. The magic notion is the glue that keeps the kids engaged. Rowling has done something wonderful in getting the kids to read.

I like Harry Potter, but my kids aren’t allowed to read them. They will be able to when they are older, but they are just too young right now. I enjoyed the books and the movies.

I don’t think that Harry Potter is a bad thing-i like it. 🙂 those that say Harry Potter teaches children the occult seem a bit overreacting though i would advise caution for children who reads these books.

I watch the Harry movies, but I don’t know if I’d let me kids see them . . . when I have kids.
