The Church wont even take a stand against homosexual marriages or more important things than these occult series.

But bravo for figuring that out!
The Church has taken pretty strong positions against gay marriage. It certainly did in Canada a decade ago when it was legalized. So we can add the Church’s views on certain topics to the list of things you don’t seem terribly familiar with.

In what ways exactly, is our beloved Church not taking a stand on gay marriage?

I wont read anything to do with the occult and i wont apologize for it!

Lovinglight…not feeling the love, not seeing the light.
Attacking my character now huh. How Christian of u.
Sort of like accusing JRR Tolkien, a fellow Catholic, of writing a work of the occult, no?
How Catholic can u possibly be to be into occult stuff enough to write a million fictional pages about it? I dont have to read his books or watch movies on them cuz hes Catholic!!! Lol
So we can add Tolkien’s biography to the list of things you don’t know.

The beloved Church believes in moral relativism now instead of moral absolutes of right and wrong.
Examples, please? The Church still condemns gay marriage, active homosexuality, abortion, euthanasia and a host of other sins. But perhaps you can show where the Church now believes in them. Go on, provide some examples. And no, as with your beloved exorcist, a few priests with unorthodox views does not make that the Church’s view.

I didnt read the books
I watched the movies
That puts you at a disadvantage dicussing this. Movies are a different artform and adaptations never come close to the books.
Its still occult fiction
No witchcraft, No occult.
I find all things occult wrong
Good!
Idc who wrote it or what faith they profess
Okay, but you suggested she wasn’t really Christian so you care a little bit.
Trilogy=referencing the entire series
This one hurts. Trilogy = 3 books, 3 movies, 3 parts of a complete work.
greatly respect Fr. Ripperger
I respect him less and less. You know why? I expressed my concern several weeks ago now that his firm of Catholicism did little to promote holiness in oneself but created an environment in which people and activities were judged with great bias, the kind that points fingers, that asserts things about others so all you have is that they are wrong! so all the faithful have is they aren’t like that. He’s creating Pharisees, you see.
I like the FSSP
I thought I did

  1. Be more specific.
  2. If you think She doesn’t follow moral absolutes of right and wrong, why are you still Catholic?

I didn’t know what it was about and opened the book to the middle to sample the dialog and it was so wooden I was surprised the pages curled

Wooden is the word. I read an review of the movie which went something like “as erotic as cleaning out your fridge.” I give the film credit, it made erotic nudity about as untittilating as one can imagine.

From your list of complaints about the Church, it sounds as if you think She’s failed you already.

How about the liturgical abuses…the ambiguous statements from AL…the sidelining of traditional Cardinals…the dubia…the gay masses…the crazy ecumenism…uplifting Priests and ppl who create scandal…re-instituting inzoli etc etc etc
I can’t even imagine what you mean by “sidelining” traditional cardinals unless you mean SSPX. As to the “gay masses”, the Church accepts people with same-sex attraction, asking them to remain celibate. And there were no lack of “traditionalist” priests creating scandals. Ireland was run by such men.
Im Catholic because i know the Sacraments work and that Christ instituted it…and i have faith the Church will never fail completely as promised by Christ himself.
And yet, by your own admission, you’re a recent convert, so why should I regard you as an authority.

You know the bizarrest thing about our little exchange. You have actually managed to get a man who has been an atheist since he was 17 to defend the Catholic Church. I applaud you. That is quite an accomplishment.

I’m pretty sure it’s punishable by death. 😦 But these are modern times and you may get to choose the method of execution in this day and age. Hurrah!

jk

Seriously, it’s not a sin and the Church does not dictate everything we are to do or not do in this life. It gives us a lot of freedom in many areas of our lives to make our own choices as Catholics. Harry Potter is definitely one of them.

With reading in general, though, there exist matters of discretion of prudence judgment. That is a different matter than sin. I think for many if not all Catholics, Harry Potter is ok to read. There is certainly no moral ruling on it.

Have you read through the thread. The author herself calls it Christian inspired fiction and has clearly stated that there is no place for the occult in her work. I have read them multiple times and agree with her…

Yes I remember a Baptist friend condemning Narnia some years ago. C.S. Lewis does depict characters casting spells after all…

Well if u cant see those issues are going on in the Church then u have failed to see the reality of the current situation.

I don’t see these things happening and I love my Church and my particular parish.

Occult fiction and Christian inspired is an oxymoron.
