I talked to someone who said this book caused him to question his Catholicism. What’s it about? Any thoughts on refuting it, to help this person get back on track?

From the limited info from the author’s website it looks like this is probably dealing with humanistic pantheism. a kind of hinduism.
One of His endorser is a yoga master.

Under these methods God is an energy force you can tap into when you need it without any expectations on your self.

As C.S. Lewis put it in his book Miracles:“its like a book on a shelf, available whenever you want it, but not bothersome when you don’t want it. How convenient to think we are bubbles in a divine froth rather than rebellious children of a righteous divine father!”

If you want to refute it , try reading L.S. Lewis Mere Christianity. That will get you to the level of Christianty. To get the Catholic side of Christianity use early church history.
