I wondered if anyone caught this new release kid’s movie over the weekend. The movie reviewer I normally use gave it an “abhorrant” rating - due to the mystical &in their mind - “occult” aspects to the film. If you’ve seen the movie, I wondered if you’d agree… or is it not much different from Mary Poppins who also uses “magic powers?”

Hhe gave it a WHAT?! OMG this film was GREAT!

it was wonderful, hilarious, i thought the lady behind me was having a heart attack she was rolling around on the floor laughing so much!

My mum and brothers and sisters and MYSELF all loved this film - its great!

Oh geez! Here we go again. Why can’t people just go and enjoy a good family movie without micro-analysing it for hidden evil intentions?

It’s just a movie!! If you feel your kids might get a little confused about the use of magical powers, simply explain it’s just “make pretend”.

Sorry, if I’ve come on a little strong here.

I feel the same way… my kids see all kinds of movies that are total make believe and understand that. They know we can’t fly - move things just by “thinking it” - or anything else. I was suprised that the film’s reviewers gave it such a bad rating… I wondered if I was missing something here?

Seriously, take your kids to see the film! They will love it, it has loads of great morals to tell, and it teaches a few lessons too!

My nine year old daughter saw the advertisements and really wants to see this movie.

I don’t know if this is a problem in Britain but some American Christians get very upset over even the smallest depiction of magic. I have even read sites that found the Narnia books by C.S. Lewis offensive. So, it is hard to know if a reviewer has a legitimate concern or if they are having a knee jerk emotional reaction.

KNEE JERK for sure.

Fundamentalism taken too far. These same folks probably wouldnt have a “Dirt Devil” vacuum in their home simply cause its says DEVIL on it.

HAHA!!

**I just saw the movie yesterday and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I loved one of the lines in it…

I’m only here to teach your children 5 lessons, if they learn more, well then…

And I liked that the 5 lessons were easy for children to be able to understand. (No, I don’t have kids).

What was sort of funny for me in this movie, was that Nanny McPhee was always popping up somewhere, like the “Tic Tac” guy from Seinfield. My co-workers say I do the same.**

I can’t wait to see this movie. My youngest son keeps saying that I pop up everywhere. He has taken to teasingly referring to me as mamm pronounced ma’am. Because he says that I am the magically apperaring midget mom. (He is nearly a foot taller then I am)

I took my 3 1/2 year old daughter to it yesterday,

She really enjoyed it and so did I.

Good movies wiyh I think good moral lessons.

Saw this two weeks ago with a friend and can’t wait for it to come to DVD.

I loved it! It was delightful, engaging and even made my friend and I shed a tear at the end.

The children in it made be feel like the world’s best mom- that whole, mine aren’t that bad type of feeling!

As far as your question about the witch thing- I don’t know, she does do magic, so I guess if you’re going to the extreme (as many fundamentalists do) then stay away. But, my 3 yr old son LOVES, no adores, Mary Poppins and that has the magic element in it, too. As does the Narnia books/movie.

If you’re that concerned go and check it out for yourself first (which is what I did) and then take the kiddos or wait till it’s released to DVD!

But again, I loved it!!!

My wife took some of the grandkids to see it on Saturday.

They enjoy it… she **really **enjoyed it… and I have my instructions to purchase the DVD when available.
