I stumbled onto an old movie entitled “The Conflict” that stars Martin Sheen and Trevor Howard. It is supposed to be based on the novel “Catholics” (which I have not read). It is about a group of Irish priests and monks who have rejected the modernization of the Church and persist in offering the Latin mass. A priest (Martin Sheen) sent from Rome to intervene in the situation is depicted as quite modern to the other extreme. As an orthodox Catholic, I found meaning in the movie, especially in the ultimate obedience of the Irish Abbot. But I am wondering if this is considered an acceptable movie or not…
