I stumbled onto an old movie entitled “The Conflict” that stars Martin Sheen and Trevor Howard. It is supposed to be based on the novel “Catholics” (which I have not read). It is about a group of Irish priests and monks who have rejected the modernization of the Church and persist in offering the Latin mass. A priest (Martin Sheen) sent from Rome to intervene in the situation is depicted as quite modern to the other extreme. As an orthodox Catholic, I found meaning in the movie, especially in the ultimate obedience of the Irish Abbot. But I am wondering if this is considered an acceptable movie or not…
Any opinions?

Has no one seen this movie?

Has anyone read the book “Catholics” by Brian Moore on which the movie is based?

Any thoughts on the movie or the book?

(Brian Moore is also the author of “Black Robe”)

:blessyou:
