Has your parish clergy started to talk about the new translations of the Mass coming this November?

Not one word. And the number of No votes concerns me greatly. Our Diocesan newspaper has started running articles on the various changes, but to my knowledge none of the parishes in our district have started any catechesis on the new version. Sad.

Keep in mind: between 2% to 10% of the Catholics in the US and Canada are completely unaffected by it. The Anglican Use parishes use the Anglican Use Missal. The Latin Traditionalist movement will continue with the 1962 missal. The Eastern Churches in Union with Rome have their own liturgical texts, as well (Some with similar translation issues), unaffected by this change. Those parishes celebrating the pauline missal exclusively in Latin, Tagalog, Spanish, Yupiq, Inupiaq, or French won’t be affected, either.
 
Yes, some. We’ve had two classes, one for readers, choir members, and the like, and one for the parish at large. There has also been a series of articles in the diocesan paper. Our pastor also mentioned that he plans on doing some homilies on the changes in the weeks leading up to the changes in Advent.
 
Our new parish priest is very enthusiastic about the new translation. Here in Ireland the peoples responses will change to the new translation in September, so that we will be familiar with them come Advent.👍
 
No, our parish hasn’t. But it won’t be such a big deal for parishioners as our new missals will be in the pews by Advent. The changes are going to affect the clergy more than us. My thought is, if you can read, there should be no problems. Our Connecticut diocesan paper has had articles on the changes.
 
There have been articles in our diocesan Catholic newspaper, but nothing at the parish level. My pastor said at our previous parish council meeting that the bishop does not want the priests to conduct catechesis on the changes until autumn.

  • It’s on parish websites and the diocese web site.
  • It’s in the bulletin.
  • An article in a local newspaper from our Archbishop, who served on the committee.
All here in Ontario, Canada.

Advent, 2011. Get ready.
 
I’ve heard nothing at my own parish. I know on the musician level people are preparing, but not for the congregation. What also concerns me from talking to a couple of my musician colleagues is that a couple of pastors aren’t even actually on board with implementing this. They want to get away with doing the present text until the very last minute.
 
Two or three years ago our then-pastor gave a homily on it; last year our next pastor held a very good workshop about the changes. Our present pastor and his assistant have not mentioned it, but there was a brief note in a recent bulletin that the new translation is coming on the 1st Sunday of Advent, and our DRE has ordered a supply of booklets explaining the changes for the catechism classes to use.

So I think it’s coming. 😃
 
I think it was mentioned once in passing during a homily–just a “and the new translation later this year” or something that quick. Nothing in the bulletin or on the website. I imagine they’ll do something in October.
