No. We don’t qualify for the test. In order to even request testing here, a person has to be running a fever of at least 100.4°F (38°C) and be in respiratory distress (persistent dry cough, difficulty breathing, etc.) At that point, you call emergency medical services. If they suspect COVID-19, they send a medical professional to examine you where you are and you’re tested on the spot if this person deems your condition and circumstances warrant it.
We have been instructed not to go to the hospital or our GP if we’re ill and think it might be COVID-19. All suspected COVID-19 cases are handled exclusively by the emergency medical service (SAMU).
At the moment, we’re both healthy and completely symptom-free. Since we’re confined to our home by government decree and will be at least through the end of the month, this is unlikely to change.
