Have any of y'all been tested for Coronavirus?

I am constantly washing my hands, I am using hand sanitizer wherever I can find it, and I am trying my best not to touch surfaces in public. I do have a cough, but I think that’s from pollen, and it’s not persistent
 
My brother got tested today. His family has had the flu but his company told him he can’t return to work until he proves it’s not the Corona virus. I’m not sure how long it takes for the results to come back. If I’ve learned anything from this ordeal, it’s that I have a tendency to touch my face, a lot. It takes a conscious effort to do otherwise.
 
I keep having to touch my glasses to adjust them, so I’m having to find creative ways to do that
 
No testing. The treatment would be the same whether it wa COVID-19, or another serious viral infection. A negative would only mean I hadn’t contracted it at the time.
 
I have a really weak immune system, and I’ve been that way for a good chunk of my life, so I certainly hope my mother does not have it, because if she does I’m going to isolate myself somewhere far far far away from any other soul.
 
Those with underlying conditions such as yours, those with severe diabetes, lung disease, cancer, etc., and the very elderly should be additionally cautious and aware of their surroundings and hygiene.

Nah, they won’t test you around here unless you have symptoms. Even then, the testing places have been overrun with people to the point that some folks who were sent by their doctors are getting shut out.

Like Mr. Fauci, I have no symptoms and am practicing social distancing so I don’t qualify to be tested.

It’s the start of allergy season for me so I’m constantly rubbing my eyes, adjusting my glasses…at least I don’t pick my nose! It’s a subconscious habit and I only realize I’m doing it after the fact! So, I wash my hands… a lot!

The good news is I don’t come into contact with very many people…just immediate family and so far, no colds or flu symptoms in our house. My daughter just recently recovered from a cold…she went to urgent care and confirmed no symptoms or Covid-19…no flu A or B either…just sinus stuff and she’s fine now.

I don’t do well with the flu. I get terrible fever spikes and bronchial wheezing so, if I get Covid, I’m probably done for! :cry:
 
You might not want to be tested. From my mother: " I think part of my brain is still on the swab. Good Lord painful."

Yep, me, too! I’ve become much more introverted as I’ve gotten older and I’ve always been good at self entertainment…bookaholic, paper crafter, photography…so I’m happy at the moment! ☺️

Me too. I’ve always been an introvert. As I’ve gotten older more so.

It’s hard being an introvert and dealing with other parents of my kids’ friends. I always feel I come across as socially awkward.

My daughter has this one friend whose mom is so friendly and chatty. She’s a nice person, just overwhelming to me.

My idea of small talk is, “Oh hello, nice to see you. How are you doing? Ok bye!”
 
No. We don’t qualify for the test. In order to even request testing here, a person has to be running a fever of at least 100.4°F (38°C) and be in respiratory distress (persistent dry cough, difficulty breathing, etc.) At that point, you call emergency medical services. If they suspect COVID-19, they send a medical professional to examine you where you are and you’re tested on the spot if this person deems your condition and circumstances warrant it.

We have been instructed not to go to the hospital or our GP if we’re ill and think it might be COVID-19. All suspected COVID-19 cases are handled exclusively by the emergency medical service (SAMU).

At the moment, we’re both healthy and completely symptom-free. Since we’re confined to our home by government decree and will be at least through the end of the month, this is unlikely to change.

No one in my immediate family are showing symptoms, thankfully, so no testing. My sister is a nurse, and her doctor’s office and associated hospital are in the thick of it, but no testing for her either. She might collapse from exhaustion though if things get as bad as some experts are warning.
 
@adamhovey1988. LOL! I can personally relate to this but as the tester. As retired RN I’ve swabbed countless of nostrils and have had many people question if I was trying to get a brain sample. Nasal swab whether testing for flu or corona virus is same procedure and definitely uncomfortable. I am glad to be retired because flu testing now would be like playing Russian (or Chinese) roulette not knowing if nostril was loaded with which virus. Since I’ve got a compromised respiratory system when I did a nasal or throat swab, I always gloved up and donned a surgical mask. These measures are now inadequate to prevent the coronal viral transmission from becoming COVID19 disease.
