I’m looking for a song to sing, while processing. We are doing a sort of walking rosary. We will stop at 5 locations on the church grounds and pray a decade at each location, so… I wanted to sing while we walked. The lonly song that is simple and a processional I know of is Soon and Very Soon, we are going to see the King. Does anyone have any more ideas?

Thanks!

Cindy

Is there a theme or cause for the rosary? If so you can concentrate on that, otherwise, nothing says rosary procession to me like “Immaculate Mary”. There are several verses and versions around, you can check with your choir director or the internet. Go for it!👍

The theme for the night is Know your Mama. But I was thinking the same thing about that song. thanks for the reply!

It’s May! The merry month of May…dedicated to Our Blessed Mother. You’re kidding me?

Never heard of “Immaculate Mary”? “On this day, oh beautiful Mother?” “Bring Flowers of the Fairest”? “Holy God we praise thy Name”? Latin chants - Ave Maria.

So much has been lost in the last 40 years. I’m not dead yet at 57 and I daresay that you have parishoners my age still living who grew up with this. Check out the old hymns. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I have heard of all of those, and know them well. I just wanted to know if one was better for processing than another. 😉

Immaculate Mary was the processional hymn before Vatican II for Marian liturgies.

Holy God We Praise Thy Name for almost everything else.

Awesome. I have decided to use Imaculate Mary because of the reasons you and the other poster suggested. Also, because if the kids have not heard it, which I hope they have, I would like to expose them to the older hymns we love so much. 🙂 Thanks again everyone!

down here you are just as likel to hear Immaculate Mary in Spanish, but most often Santa Maria Del Camino

for a Marian procesion
Ven conosotros al caminar, Santa Maria, va
walk with is, Holy Mary, come

may very well be my favorite of all Spanish language hymns. only versions I could find have electronic accompaniment, not the traditional music and singing voices.
