This quote was in reference to choosing vocations.

I just have to say, there is no greater vocation than being a priest. I mean ---- just imagine it ---- you get to say the words of Consecration that transubstantiate the Host into the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Holy Orders is like being given an unseen yet humble power to do even greater and more humble things that are still unseen.

In fact, the greatest things in this world are those that penetrate the veil, and being able to Consecrate a Host or being able to say the worlds of absolution in the Confessional or baptising someone and cleansing them of Original sin — these are the greatest things in this world!

I think you’d be a fantastic priest!

You also don’t have to be perfect to be a priest. Imperfect men run the Church, and that’s OK. I wouldn’t want it any other way.

It’s like … the Church is a Hospital and YOU are the Doctors for us poor sinners! (Doctors aren’t perfect either).

I say, Go for it!

You’re going to find that being a priest is like being married to God and that there is no greater love. Celibacy is a call to a higher love! ---- a love that is infinitely greater than the love exchanged between a man and a woman in Matrimony.

Perhaps the REASON God has sent you storms in your life: dryness, depression, an addiction to pleasure, bouts of pessimism, doubts, a difficult nature … is because He wanted to make you humble, dependent upon Him, and also because He wanted to test your fidelity. The fact that you hung onto the Ship of Salvation through all your life’s storms tells me that you’re worthy of becoming a priest. WOW! I admire you.

Congratulations! Go for it! Apply to the Seminary, please!!!

God Bless!

Hello to you all and Merry Christmas! When I first read your post, I thought they were my own words and thoughts. If you can find meaning and direction in this life, you are blessed indeed. I wish you well in whatever decision you make. We all need more people like you. Godbless & Godspeed.

I greatly appreciate the kind words and the prayers.

I will have to find some additional time for adoration. On the few occasions I have dedicated time to it, I have been greatly moved by it.

I appreciate all of the suggestions given. I will make an effort to explore them all.

Perhaps I am called to be a priest or religious, or perhaps something else. Perhaps this discussion will be of help to someone else in need as well.

It has been a great help to me, just to be able to express my thoughts and feelings and receive some feedback.

Thank you all for your support.

I will keep dropping by the forums. I have found quite a bit of interesting stuff here at CA. Proof that even the Internet has a role to play in God’s plan for salvation, unlikely though that may seem.
