Have you been celibate for a LONG time?

. I think that not having sex before marriage is good for a couple because they can then get to know each other better. They can become friends before they become lovers, which I think gives the marriage a stronger foundation.
This is one reason I HATE TV so much… it always portrays sex as such a casual thing… on sit-coms and other shows, when a man starts dating a woman, they are in bed immediately, usually on the first date. This doesn’t send much of a message about friendship first… to say the least. It is no wonder relationships don’t work out these days… for very long. How can you trust someone who will sleep with you so soon, without knowing you? technically, you could spend your whole life with someone and not really “know” the person… so what gives with people becoming sexual so soon? Maybe some people are just optimists or something… until they find out who the person really is… :hypno:
, I just stopped going to such places and accepted the fact that I was not meant to be with anyone.
Maybe you just haven’t met the right person?? Have you prayed about meeting her? Prayers aren’t answered right away but, well, as you know, God knows how to answer prayers… we can trust Him… (although i don’t do that very well… 😦 myself)… so whatever happens, at least it sounds like you aren’t into jumping into things… 🙂

God bless…

I’m okay with been celibate. Being alone can be a bit frustrating (no one else to share the dishes with),
I hear you!
but feels ‘right’. somehow. The biggest annoyance is how the world is set up for couples - sometimes I feel there isn’t a place for me.
so true… we single people get bombarded everywhere we turn… Romantic love is worshipped in this society… and when you live alone for long periods of time, people start thinking you are gay or weird or something… 🤷

thanks for all you said.

no… if i had had a loving family or someone else i could have turned to, it may have been a one-time kind of thing… but i had NO ONE… and i mean NO one… I didn’t even feel that God gave a rip about me… which reminds me, please pray for those kinds of people… who ae all alone and feel un-loved… many of them kill themselves… as i was tempted to do many times… The love of God was NOT real to me then… In fact, i even though He hated me… sometimes even now His love doesn’t seem so real… but tht’s only when i am not praying or going to Mass or in the Real Presence… i hope/pray that all those who pray the rosary will keep these poor, miserable people in mind …

If i had known the Cahtolic faith back then as i know it now, i would not have thought of doing myself in…

No… tht’s not true… I would have thought about it… but not for very long… back then, i had periods where i obsessed about it and even 1/2-heartedly “attempted” it… (more mentally than anything…)

People need to know in a substantial way, that Jesus loves them… Life is not worth living without Him… (in my opinion)…

I have never prayed that God give me a wife, I don’t know why. I just pray that, if it His will, then I will marry, but if not, so be it. Sounds pious, but I am not pious, I just want to serve God. That doesn’t mean that I do serve God very well. I have let many opportunties pass me by. Maybe I am not proactive enough and maybe I should have married the first person I met who I liked and who was willing. After all, it is natural. I am just hoping that God has a hand in all this and has some alternative plan for me. As it is, I am in a bit of a rut and a bit directionless

not necessarily… sometimes that doesn’t give the sperm time to build up…
Well, I for one wouldn’t take the chance. There’s no way to visually tell whether or not sperm is in the semen that a husband emits. I’ve had pretty good luck with NFP myself. Birth control pills have too many chemicals in them and basically treat the female body badly. This last time, I thought I “had time” before I ovulated and got pregnant, but if you wait until you are sure you have ovulated there is a much much lower risk of getting pregnant. It’s a rather complicated thing to learn; I learned from a book. I am married, but not happily, hence the reason for me knowing the method to begin with.

Me too… and i suppose it is my own fault (?) but who knows? I am powerless over many things… and i sometimes believe God wants us to feel (know) our powerlessness… because then we kind of have no choice but to trust him…

I am glad i am not wealthy… because then i would trust in my $ and not in God… as so many do. IT is funny how blessings can be curses and vice versa… I really believe that $ is a serious cross… a very serious curse… Even poor people in this country can get too atttached to their things… their (comparatively speaking) materialistic lifestyle… so i can imagine how rich people stumble in this area…

anyway… How did i get on that subject??

oh… powerlessness… I guess i thought of that because by you saying you were in a rut and direction-less… i got the feeling you feel powerless about changing your life… and in so doing, meeting someone??

Or am i projecting onto you waht is going on with me?? :hmmm:

Anyway, God bless… 🙂
