What turned it around ?

Yes. And I still have depressive episodes. I don’t know when they’re going to happen, they’re not predictable. I’m not sure that anything really ever turn it around, it’s just I’m not depressed all the time. Sometimes those episodes last months at a time.

I’ve waded through decades of this dismal black haze we call life. I’ve accepted it and am now a curmudgeon. Where’s my cigar and coffee 😠 :coffee:

Seriously, if you’re depressed please see a psychologist and get some medication. Also, if you’re in an area that gets bleak during the winter you may have Seasonal affective Disorder (SAD).

Well, yes. If you have a good reason. Death of a loved one. Illness. Pressure/problems in school, work, of any kind. Unhappy where you are at in life due to outside circumstances, money, pressure, in something you want out of. Conflicts with others, even neighbors, stupid parking disputes, etc. Personal issues, problems. Long list. I would deal with it issue by issue. Change what you can change. Learn good ways to cope with what you can’t. Never be afraid to get professional help if that seems like it might help - sometimes talking about things is really helpful, sometimes it’s a dead end. Just make sure you find support and guidance that you need. (I would trust a doctor/family/friends before I would trust CAF et al.) Good luck. Going to Church helps too, faith - you would be surprised - prayer.

Yes, yes, yes. I’ve suffered from Major Depression for most of my life. I’m definitely in recovery which I attribute mostly to the 12 ECT treatments I received in the hospital 9 years ago. I’m also on medications and engage in regular talk-therapy. God (of course - #1, actually), prayer, and frequent Confession all contribute to my recovery.
