Have you ever felt so sad for another, that you weep "for" them?

I really feel very sad for my sister. For those of you who don’t know, she divorced (her choice) 5 yrs ago, about. I don’t think she should have left her husband, frankly. She never sought out the annulment process. She dates now, but she stopped sleeping with men. She has come back to The Church. Her son and her had a major tiff at Thanksgiving, and he stopped speaking to her. (for those who DO know–nope, that has not been resolved)

My sister has been handed her fair share, perhaps more than, in her life, of struggles. Her kids treat her without much respect from where I sit. I think they blame her for the divorce, and having to make choices with who to spend the holidays with. She is spending them with me this year, which I’m excited about.

But, last night, at mass…I really felt overwhelmingly sad for my sister. Like she has done so much for us all over the years. She raised me, and while I had my personal issues with her (she can be …hmmm…critical at times)…I forgave her, and love her. I wish her sons would do the same.

I just wonder if any of you have ever wept for another? I remember when Jesus wept in the Bible. He wept for others…He wept for an entire country! I think I kind of know that feeling now.

Have you ever felt this way? I pray that my tears will serve as an offering on my sister’s behalf…and that God will enlighten her sons to treat her better. Doesn’t matter who is right or wrong…what matters is family.:o

Yes.

I get that feeling with anything related to abortion. After sidewalk counseling I am very atuned to this tragedy, I cry for these women even when we pray intercessions at Mass.

Yes…I have shed many tears for my family as they have strayed away from the Lord and the church. In their adult life, they are now making absurd decisions, as if they where teenagers. I also feel very sad for the children that are suffering for their recent mistakes. But I pray a lot and sincerely trust that the Lord has heard my prayers.

Weeping for them is a sincere sign of love and charity, for it means we want them to be happy and living in Christ.

Pray many rosaries for your sister and children. God bless you and it is good that she has you 🙂

Aww, WG what a great sister and leader you are. It is so wonderful you are with her. I like the idea of the Rosary too. Offering a full Rosary or even a decade for your sister or victims of abortions is heard by God the Father. He hears all our prayers, sorrow’s and tear’s.:flowers:

Even Jesus wept when he heard that his dear friend Lazarus died. Yes, I have cried often and most recently yesterday at the funeral of a stillborn baby of our good friends and fellow parishioners. It felt like the whole world was crying along too.

It’s good to know I’m in good company with these feelings.:o

1ke–yes I have cried for them also (women who have had abortions) It is almost like you are feeling for them. If that makes sense.

I appreciate your stories everyone. I like the Rosary idea. I have been praying for their reconciliation. I was tempted to say something to my nephew, but my sister doesn’t want me to get in the middle. After the holidays, if this is still going on–I might call him and see his side. You know, his brother told me what he thinks about it all. He basically said ‘when their mom walked out on their dad’ (notice how they interpret the divorce, even as grown adult MEN) …the older son (the one not speaking to my sister) grew resentful of my sister. The thing is, should she have lived in an unhappy place to please her adult kids? I think she remained for so long because of her kids…but the older one is married off on his own now. It goes to show, everyone, that even when a divorce happens ‘to’ adults kids…they really still struggle with it. I think they also lost respect for her when she dated that married man. Ugh, I warned her not to do that!😦 😦 Thank the Lord, she left that man last year…but, I don’t think they will ever forget that. Nothing ever gets discussed in my family…feelings, etc just sort of get pushed under the carpet…okay pass the potatoes. Now, on my own for many years with my husband…we have COMPLETELY different lives. Open and loving. I feel sorry for my nephews that they have grown bitter towards their own mom. I told my younger nephew to talk to his brother though–this is the holidays, and their mom bent over backwards for all of us growing up. I hope he does what I suggest. :o I’m just so joy filled this Advent season. I’m beaming with love for the Lord, I can’t express is. I think that too caused me to cry at mass last night. I don’t know.

I just know that Christ has helped me change my life around…be a good wife and mom…it’s not me, it’s all God. I just wish everyone could feel great joy, even if they are suffering, at this time of year.

Gratefuldad…where have you been? Hope you and your family are well.🙂

Thanks for listening. Whew. I really needed to get all that out.😉

we have a very wayward son. these days, i cry because of him-- how it muust feel to think you’re so away from God. and i cry for God-- how the Lord must want him back so badly.

so i ask God to consider every one of my tears as a separate prayer for him. i cry a lot, so i pray a lot, too.

be blessed.

Hey WG,👋… I’m still here. Work has been so busy the past several months I have not been able to sign on to CAF and I really miss chiming in with everybody.:o But the family is all well and I’ll be praying for your successful surgery tomorrow.
