Have you ever wondered why?

I was having a discussion with a friend the other day and a topic came up about Bishops…then we discussed the Pope…so I will ask you the question that was asked: Have you ever wondered why the Pope, commonly known as the Bishop of Rome, is not an Arch-Bishop??? Doesn’t it seem like the Bishop of Rome should be an Arch-Bishop? I have asked some very learned people about this and none of them can seem to give me a good answer…does anyone have any suggestions?

An archbishop or metropolitan, in the present sense of the term, is a bishop who governs a diocese strictly his own, while he presides at the same time over the bishops of a well-defined district composed of simple dioceses but not of provinces. Hence none of these subordinate bishops rule over others. These bishops are called the suffragans or comprovincials. The archbishop’s own diocese is the archdiocese. The several dioceses of the district form the archiepiscopal, or metropolitan, province.

The Pope is the Bishop of Rome and does not presides over another district.

Reading this post, one would derive that the poster is very uncharitable and rude…then when you take into consideration that you are only 16…I just chalk it up to todays youth…it reaffirms what I already knew.
