There are two reasons to pray for an enemy…. The first is to pray for them so that we see them in a new light and that we are released from the hate and fear of them. It is almost impossible to defeat an enemy we fear… the fear gives them huge power over us.

The second type of prayer to pray for God to show them the errors of their ways and to cause them to have a complete change of heart. Could you image the upheaval in the world of radical Islam if tomorrow Bin Laden came out and started to lead them to peace? What if he, like Paul, was visited by someone like the Virgin Mary who told him of the errors of his ways and that he was to turn around on a dime as St. Paul did? What a pipe dream! But prayer has brought miracles at times.

No, I haven’t. As a Catholic Christian, should I?
I prayed for Saddam, then went on a guilt trip, wondering if I did the right thing. I believe I did.

However I disagree the with this link… this preacher, Brother Andrew, is going around praying with folks like the leaders of Hamas. Here is a quote from the interview…
So I said to them, “There’s no room for Christians. You’re going to persecute us.” They said, “No, Andrew, there will always be a place for Christians like you.” So far, my own contact, and that of the Baptist leaders and that of the Bible shop leaders in Gaza has been very positive with Islamic Jihad and Hamas.
This is an islamic tactic that has been used from the beginnig. They find and butter up particular Christians and Jews. Note “there will always be a place for Christians like you.” So what does this mean? It means that there is only room for Christains who accept Islamic superiority. There is no room for the average Christian.

They did not promise to stop persecuting Christians.

Here is another quote from the interview…
It looks confusing. And yet, it is not. I talked to the Hamas leaders years ago about what they wanted. This is exactly what I see happening today. They follow a plan, and there’s nothing wrong with having a plan. We also have a plan. We read the Bible. We have sort of a mental concept of what it’s going to be, and Hamas has that, too. They have a very strong belief, and they act upon it, that in the end times in which we now live, they believe that Islam is going to conquer and rule the world. And what they see—in very concrete terms in Gaza and West Bank and the surrounding countries, across Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan—is a pan-Arabic republic. No borders. No Jews. They say that literally. That’s not antagonism. That’s their faith dictating them to say so.
*Brother Andrew just accept that the Muslims are not acting out of hate but out the fact that they have been promissed that they will dominate the world. *

This sort of attitude is exactly why Muslism have been able to almost totally irradicate Judeism and Christianity from their birth place. They did not do it by simply convincing Jews and and Christians to convert. They did to by setting up a system of aparthied the had Christians and Jews living as second class citizens in the lands of their ancestors. And the they taxed them into proverty and mistreated them. Those who have not coverted have slowly been chassed of or butchered. This continues today.

*There is a place for selfdefense. Jesus said to turn the other check… He did not way to let them slap you silly. *

*To pray with Muslims and passively accept their system of aparathied and discrimination and brutality against non-Muslims is nothing more then personal and social suicide. *

Are Christians really willing to let Islam whipe us off the face or the earth? I’m not necessarilty talking war here… some very strong world protest could go a long way to support our relgious bretheran in living under the difficulties of Islamic rule.

*Knowing the history of Islam and how it has used reasonable Christians like Brother Andrew, I am not impressed with what Brother Andrew is doing. *

They have a holy reverence for the Bible as a book. Whenever I pull out the New Testament or the whole Bible, I can preach whatever I want. I preach very evangelistic sermons there. So here’s the tricky part: If Brother Andrew can do it, I think everybody can do it. Because everybody is better than me, and everybody is more able and gifted and supported. I’m just one little Dutchman walking on wooden shoes. Let us do it as a church.
In most Muslim countries a Christian who preaches to Muslims is arrested and can be executed… this statement hard to believe. So why are they letting him do this but they will persecute and even execute their own citizens for doing it.

He is also wrong that Muslims have a holy reverence for the Bible. I have never spoken to one Muslim who respects the bible. tHey believe that it is moslty a pack of lies.

I find the whole article very odd.

Umm. NO!
And I am a Muslim.
In all honesty; I wish him the best in life and hope he will one day soon practice TRUE ISLAM and not some made up form of it that fits his perverse cause.

Do I pray for non Muslims. Yes. 👍

:signofcross: In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, please remove the scales from eyes of Mr. Bin Laden just as you did for the Apostle Paul, so that he understands his error and finds his way to you! Should he already be dead, I pray for his soul… that your judgment may be righteous, but merciful.

Holy Mary, pray for Mr. Bin Laden’s soul, now and at the hour of his death.

Amen!

Some people refuse to pray for their enemies, because they don’t want their enemies in heaven.

I doubt that praying for Bin Laden will get him to heaven. There’s all that repetence stuff that has to happen first. Since he does not think of himself was in error… i know it’s up to God, but I just dont’ see it.

Nice, that’s exactly what is needed.

If you believe that bin Laden is not practicing true islam then you should pray for him too… because if he does see the light and start following the truth won’t he stop encouraging and sponsoring violence?

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, please speak to Osama bin Ladin and teach him right from wrong, let him know who you are and guide him to repentance. Thank you. And please heal the aching hearts of those whom he has hurt. Amen:gopray2:
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, please join me in this prayer.

No, I have not.

But now I will.

It is just this simple - as simple as the first Baltimore Catechism question I read when I found my mom’s old catechism in a box - “Who made you? God made me” “Why did God make you? God made me to know Him, love Him and serve Him in this life and be happy for all eternity with Him in the next.”

That is the only reason God made ASimpleSinner, and it is the only reason He made Osama. As Catholics, we know how this happens - by following the teachings of Christ in the precepts of the Church and dying a good death in the state of Grace. We should pray EVERYONE does this, and pray for it daily.

But even if we don’t do this by name - every Catholic who utters even the quickest Hail Mary does so in the course of a day when we pray “Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.” That pretty much includes us ALL.
