Good afternoon, I have a friend whose mother is a fallen Catholic that really still believes in Catholicism, but it is a sticky situation. Anyway, at my friend’s hockey game today, a player had whiplash, and what seemed like brain bleeding (according to first responders) she then prayed over him and he woke up asking if they had won! The first responders were mesmerized! She recognizes that God does these and He is just using her. I don’t disagree with that! God can perform miracles! Anyway, the player talked to my friend later and asked him why God cared enough about him to use my friend’s mother to heal him. I’m not sure exactly what my friend should say so I came here! Why would God use someone ( a Protestant) to heal an atheist? Thanks!

See the story of Saul’s conversion… he was persecuting Christians with a vengenance, he was FAR from being a Christian. On the road to Damascus to find more Christians to persecute, he was blinded and fell from his horse. It was Jesus that spoke to him and look what happened… Saul became Paul and all his letters are in the new testament and we hear them almost every Sunday.

Jesus just works that way… It’s so astounding it attracts more conversions than if someone like an already strong Catholic (priest, deacon, lay apostle).

How awesome for a miracle… wish it could be televised or exposed to the media somehow… she could do miracles with a lot of non-believers

I’m sorry. I am as devout a Catholic as the next guy but if you think God doesn’t respond to the faith of Protestants you are sadly mistaken. And I think that is your answer.

She had the faith and God responded.

‘If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you’ luke 17:6

Jesus didn’t say “if you have faith and sound doctrine”

The only thing required for God to do miracles is Faith.

Seems to me the player simply regained consciousness after being knocked out. That happens every time we wake up from sleep.

You are assuming it was indeed a real miracle, and that is plain wrong.

That’s why the Church is so careful about recognizing miracles, because it is easy to mistake a natural event for a supernatural one, and distinguishing one thing from another requires deep investigation that it is not suitable for occurrences like the one you described.

Real miracles do exist. I have been healed myself. The point here is that there must be a clear indication that a real problem existed before the intercession.

And also, being a protestant is not an impediment to be the vehicle of a miracle. A miracle requires faith, and if the person interceding has faith, a miracle might happen despite of his church associations.
