Is this true? Were there prayers to st Joseph and other saints that early in our church’s history? I was under the impression that prayers to the saints came after

The earliest Christian burial places, the Catacombs in Rome, were where Masses were held. There are prayers, illustrations, etc in the Catacombs. Veneration of the Saints goes back to the infancy of the Church.

There is a prayer to St Joseph that was meant to be found in first century AD in Jerusalem

ANCIENT PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH

Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interest and desires.

Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers.

Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him close in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, patron of departing souls, pray for me. Amen.

Woah really? Wow the intercession of the saints can in no way be attacked by Protestants then

What’s it got to do with Protestants. I don’t understand.
Any religion or person is free to pray this.

Protestants don’t believe in the intercession of the saints.
