help here is a person go an kill a 100 person an before he killed himself he ask for forgiveness, do that person go to heaven:shrug: some fundamentalist believe this way.and to be honest i don’t understand. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be Adored, Glorified, Loved & Preserved throughout the world, now & forever. Sacred Heart of Jesus, please pray for me. Saint Jude, Worker of Miracles, please pray for me. Saint Jude, Helper of the Hopeless, please pray for me. Amen."

Purgatory is where you work to remove the blocks that you yourself have erected between yourself and God. Then you will be ready for Heaven.
Sorry MelanieAnne, but you did not say it right. In purgatory you do not WORK anything. In purgatory we are just let ourselves be santified FULLY by the blood of Christ. We are santified all throughout our lives. Purgatory is simply the FINAL STAGE of your santification process. It is where the blood of Christ completely cleanses you of your corrupt nature, which makes us sin, which we have here on earth until our last breath. In HEAVEN we do not have corrupt nature, thus we cannot sin. So because of that that corrupt nature must be removed by Christ blood in Purgatory.

Now, why would someone NOT want to be PURGED and PURIFIED of their corrupt nature before one enters HEAVEN? that is the question.

Blessings,

E.C.

Per the OP:

There’s only two final destinations–Heaven or Hell.

Purgatory is a cleansing (purging) of impurities before entering Heaven (since nothing unclean can enter).

You are very wise to not desire Purgatory–we should seek to be perfect like Our Heavenly Father is perfect. 🙂

I have found this little treatise to be a good explanation of Purgatory. It is by St. Catherine of Genoa:

Hi, EC, sorry for any confusion, I was responding to the original poster’s comment of having more work to do. I interpreted that as someone who was still in need of purification. In that sense, I saw the purification process as “work”, but I know that I am not doing the work, it is a process that is occurring to me, from which I can benefit. I hope that makes sense. And thanks for the clarification.

this has help me see purgatory in a different way. an i quoted “actually purgatory is the entrance way to heaven. it is not a second chance at heaven. it is temporary because only those people assured of heaven enter purgatory.” thank you david currie for this, a former fundamentalist. at least i know that after my soul get clean i will see god.thats ok for me.🙂 May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be Adored, Glorified, Loved & Preserved throughout the world, now & forever. Sacred Heart of Jesus, please pray for me. Saint Jude, Worker of Miracles, please pray for me. Saint Jude, Helper of the Hopeless, please pray for me. Amen

Think of the cartoons you’ve seen of the Pearly Gates. There is always a line to get in. That line is Purgatory.
