Hope this doesn’t get flagged. Lol. Should I feel bad for the people in hell? Like feel sorrow for them. Wouldn’t it be selfish not to?

I personally do feel bad for the souls in Hell, even though they made the decision to go there by sinning and dying after sinning I still feel that I could certainly have gone to Hell had I died as I have committed so many mortal sins, I am very thankful to God that he has decided that I should live and give me time to repent.

We don’t know for certain who goes to hell. I like to focus on what I can change, so I focus on Heaven.

We should feel sorrow for them, yes, but once you go to hell, you’re stuck there and can’t get out. Instead of thinking about the souls in hell, why not pray for the souls here on earth that they don’t go there? 🙂

@Aaron501 I didn’t quote your “lol” - it takes away from the seriousness of your question when you post " lol" right next to it.

Frankly, the loss of one single soul - by one’s own deliberate estrangement from God is a greater tragedy than all the wars of humanity combined , particularly considering all that our Blessed Lord endured in order to save us from such an end.
But the souls in Hell don’t want your or my pity, and they don’t want our prayers. They are reprobate. The only thing they want is to have us there in Hell with them.

If we know how to pray , we could tell God that we are sorry that such a thing had to happen to a soul He created ; that it is indeed a sad thing that a human soul should choose Hell over the beatific vision - over the unspeakable love Jesus reveals to us.

But I don’t think I would personally feel sorry for a soul in Hell, because the next step would be to feel sorry for Satan . . .BIG mistake ! All Satan wants to do is destroy us.
