Hi I am a Orthodox Teenager who does 95% Catholic devotions and prayers. Except church (it’s and Orthodox Church) well, I was wondering, how could I become a Catholic now, without saying anything and then when I’m 18 be a "true Catholic"

I know this is really confusing but I hope I can get and answer bc/ I support all Church doctrines and theology and believe in them firmly.

there is an easy way. just stroll into any nearby Catholic church and tell the priest that you are an orthodox who wants to get baptized. you do not need to announce it at home or at school.
if you are already baptized simply tell the priest that you want to get confirmed. I don’t know why you can’t become a full Catholic immediately but I know the priest can handle it effectively and discreetly

My understanding is that it is usually very simple for an Orthodox person to become Catholic. Ideally, you should go to the Catholic rite that corresponds to your current Orthodox rite. (For example, if you are Ukrainian Orthodox, you should go to a Ukrainian Catholic church, as that will be the rite into which you’ll be admitted.) If one isn’t available, you can go to a Roman Catholic church. All you’ll need is appropriate instruction and then a statement of the Catholic creed, and you’ll be a full Catholic.

i converted from armenian orthodox to roman catholic. we are baptized and confirmed at the same time. all i had to do was make a profession of faith before the priest and a witness and i was in. when you talk to a priest, he might have to speak with someone at the canon law office for a complete understanding. from what i was told, we are not to be brought into the church with any fanfare, because there has been a long history of pressure to steal parishioners. blessings to you!

Normally, when a person from another Christian church or community becomes Catholic, s/he retains the rite of the church or community she left, out of respect for the fact that Catholics already recognize Orthodox and Protestants as Christians, and “desires nothing more than is necessary” to be admitted to the Catholic Church.

So, if you leave the Orthodox church to become Catholic, you would normally become a member of the corresponding Eastern Catholic church sui juris. Ex.: Russian Orthodox becoming Russian Catholic, etc.

This is not to say that an Eastern Catholic cannot practice Latin (Roman) Catholic traditions and traditions, such as the Rosary, etc., though the Church highly encourages you to preserve your own rite, since there are so few of you (only 2-3% of the worldwide Catholic population, depending on who you ask). As a Latin (Roman) Catholic very keenly interested in Byzantine traditions, I would urge you to retain the Eastern rite, as the more Eastern Catholics who leave their rites for the Latin Church, the harder it comes for us to explain that Eastern Catholics are truly Catholic and not Orthodox. (And I am writing all of this assuming that you are not Western Rite Orthodox.)
