Some parents think they’re really cool and want to be popular, but they’ll tell “overprotective” parents what they think they want to hear

I have discovered this to be true!!! Its INSANE! One thing to consider is the emotional attachment a 13 year old girl feels and how strong that could be. I am relieved we arent there yet - My oldest DD is only 11.
Hopefully by the time your daughter or son is 13, you know them well enough that you can tell when they’re deceiving you. Also, hopefully you have the social skills and the spirituality to be to discern whether another parent is deceiving you.

OMG, what kind of kids are your children associating with in school, church, etc. that these kids would have devious parents who would deliberately deceive religious people and scorn their beliefs behind their back and lead their innocent children into sin?!! That is so awful!

If those are the kind of families who populate your school, church, neighborhood, sports teams, clubs, etc., you need to get out of such toxic placees and take your kids with you! That is extremely EVIL of those other families! We need to run away from such people and not look back! Find new schools, churches, etc.

We need to cultivate friendships with wholesome and faith-filled people.

As parents, we should make a huge effort to get to know the other parents in our schools, churches, neighborhoods, sports teams, clubs, etc. and discern back when our children are just little kids which families to avoid and which families to cultivate friendships with. We shouldn’t wait until our kids are 13 and eager to start taking short flights away from the family nest.

Yeah. As if.

Not everyone can pick up and move.

Do you HAVE teenagers? Do you know you can take them to daily Mass as children, provide love and support and a house full of religion and then you put them in school and they meet friends in the neighborhood and eventually you can’t control everything they do and think.

Not everyone out there has religion. Nor do they share your values.
