The last “official” Catechism of the Church was published by Pius V and is known as The Catechism of the Council of Trent. Pius X produced a simplified version. Note in the intro the statement, "It was not, however, prescribed for use throughout the universal church."

Did he approve it? If yes what did he approve it for? Who published it, and who approved it?

Maybe I misunderstand what you said but isn’t the last (meaning latest) official Catechism the Catechism of the Catholic Church published in 1992 (1994 in English)? The CCC is the universal Catechism.

Sorry. Of course you are correct. I meant the “last” Catechism BEFORE Pius X.

Who wrote the catechism ??? who approved it? DID pIUS x APPROVE it? If yes where is the documentation for it?
You seem frantic.

We all know not to put much stock in Wiki but here is a link to an article there. It says he wrote it himself.

The idea, however, has never been lost sight of. During the sitting of the first Catechetical Congress in 1880, the then Bishop of Mantua (later St. Pius X) proposed that the Holy Father be petitioned to arrange for the compilation of a simple, plain, brief, and popular Catechism for uniform use all over the world. Shortly after his elevation to the Chair of Peter, Pius X at once set about realising, within certain limits, his own proposal of 1880, by prescribing a uniform Catechism — the Compendium of Christian Doctrine — for use in the dioceses of the ecclesiastical province of Rome, at the same time indicating that it was his earnest desire to have the same manual adopted all over Italy. The text selected was, with slight modifications, that which had been adopted for some years by the united hierarchy of Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Emilia, and Tuscany.

It appears from the above quote that Pius X approved the catechism for Italy. Can anyone provide an actual statement from the Holy see confirming this?? It would be greatly appreciated!!!
