Help Defend my Faith: Rock

I was literary arguing with a Church of Christ minister about Peter as the Rock and the foundation of the Catholic Church. I told him that Peter is the Rock because of this and that (you know the verses). Then I was shocked when he showed me some verses in the Bible saying that Jesus is the one and only foundation and no other foundation can be laid. He also read to me saying that Jesus IS the Rock.

Question:
1. Did the Catholic Church laid another foundation?
2. It’s pretty clear that Jesus is the Rock… is Peter another Rock?
3. Is it Jesus or Peter on the question “Who is the foundation of your Church?”

I really hope you could help me defending my faith against other Religion.

The way I read it, Jesus is the Rock of our Faith and Salvation. Peter, and thus the papacy, is the Rock of the Church, the institution which he left behind. When Jesus died, and after his ascension into heaven, Peter was the person who was left behind to build the Church.

Ahh! So… Jesus is “The Rock” of our “faith”. Peter is “The Rock” of the “Church”.

So, what exactly will i say if a minister ask me, “Who is the rock foundation of your church?”

Come on guys, help me with this one.
