Help: fighting Norvus Ordo in a Catholic FB page

Three times I have joined a FB page thinking I was among rational practical Catholics and all those times I have been faced with what appears to be the irrational ravings of those who adhere to “Norvus Ordo” and say that our Church has been in apostasy and there has not been one legitimate Pope for the past 100 years (thereabouts). I include a link at the bottom for your edification in case you have not encountered this. I am told I am going to “hell” because I am a practical Catholic (Eucharistic Minister) and believe in the True Presence; I am told that our Pope Francis and those before him are the minions of Satan. They are unable to answer my question: why would God allow His Son’s Church to fall into the abyss. Please provide me with whatever you can to answer these people; they appear to spend a great deal of time every day studying to support their POV. TY.

This is a tactic of the Evil One to strike fear in your heart and to provoke doubt in your mind. Anytime you hear such language, flee from them, then pray for them.
 
I’m not sure they’re interested in debate. They’re a Facebook page for a reason. I’d avoid them and pray for them.

Just to get your terms straight: They are calling our current Mass the “Novus Ordo” in deprecation. They are adherents obviously of the “Tridentine” Mass or Latin Mass. They also appear to be Sedevacantists, since they deny the legitimacy of the current Papacy. (That is a heresy.)

You should avoid these people as they are deluded and mistaken.
 
These people will not change their minds by anything they read on this site. Anything they read by you here will stir them to think up opposing argument to preserve their position.

These movements tend to break up of their own accord, as long as they don’t have something to agree on (like refuting you). If you lock up 10 sedevacantists in a house for a week, they will emerge with 15 organizations, each claiming to be the authentic one. But if you lock them up with just one or two other people trying to present a moderate viewpoint, it might take them 3 months to reach the point of 15 new organizations.

Pray for them. They cannot be driven from that POV, but sometimes they may choose to walk away…perhaps after reading about Mother Teresa, or someone.

I’ve never come across a group like that. It’s usually those who DON’T like the current Mass who say the Church has been in apostasy.

OP, did you mean to type ‘irrational ravings AT those who adhere to Novus Ordo’?
 
Maybe not strictly on topic, but related. Are there Catholic FB groups or pages you have found that have charitable, balanced discussions?
 
Not yet, sadly, although there is a “Catholic Answers” group I have not been in it long enough
 
Part of me wants to know the page so I can troll them. Wrong and uncharitable, but the type of hurt it can cause is wrong also. Don’t tell me.
 
I have no hostility against Catholicism. I’m a Minister of the Holy Eucharist. I follow Jesus, I read His words, I study His teachings. You are doing exactly what the sedevaticanists (Or whatever they call themselves) did to me: assault me. I have honest questions but I’m shaking the “tree” and it makes people nervous because they don’t have answers OR they have the same questions but are afraid to entertain them. Because the Magisterium “says it”, they are automatically covered by the Holy Spirit; how is that possible when you know perfectly well that God is not a “magic button” to push, but an entity so enormous we cannot even possibly begin to comprehend were it not for Jesus? Why am I assaulted for having legitimate questions? Why is it instead of attempting to understand, most people just dismiss me as being a “Protestant in disguise”? I don’t get it.

It sounds like you have encountered Sedavacantists. These people reject the Novus Ordo, and therefore, would not “adhere” to it.

Sedavacantists are not “impractical”. But I am not sure what you mean by using that modifier in this context. It appears you believe that it is “practical” to question the teachings of the Church?

Sedavacantists would not tell you you are going to hell for believing in the Real Presence. They might think that the priests who are presiding at a Novus Ordo Mass are not validly ordained, and therefore the Eucharist is not valid. They also probably reject females serving at the altar or ministering communion.

From their perspective, the Church has not fallen into the Abyss. They see themselves as the one true remnant.

I think this is not a good use of your time. It would be better for you to study the Catechesis of the Popes,and the catechism. Scripture commands us to avoid such persons.

Have you considered being honest with the Priest? Tell him you do not believe what the Church teaches in the Catechism? That you do not believe that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God? That you have been steeping yourself in anti-Catholic bible studies?

It appears that @April(name removed by moderator) does not accept that the books contained in the Septuagint are actually Scripture.

She also appears to be getting “fed” by anti-catholic sources, and rejecting the authority appointed by Christ to govern the Church.

As it turns out, April(name removed by moderator) is also a “protestant in disguise” who is particularly pernicious, masquerading as a Catholic in the role of a Eucharistic Minister. It may be that your advice of walking away and keeping her in our prayers is the best option.
