I recently went through a difficult confession. I had gone several times since my return to the church but I knew I was holding back. After much reflection I admitted my sin to myself. It took a month to find the courage to confess. I was so ashamed and it is difficult to tell a priest the very worst about yourself. When I found the nerve to confess I started by telling him this is something I had been struggling with and the tears were flowing and then I told him. It wasn’t as I planned - my emotions got the best of me and I rambled a bit. But please believe me when I tell you I felt as if my life was starting anew when I left the confessional. I really didn’t think it was possible to be forgiven but I knew when I left that I was and the God’s love filled me more then I imagined possible. For me going to my local priest helped because he knew I have tried to include Jesus in my life after many years away I don’t think I could tell something so intimate to someone who didn’t know me.

Please go and don’t worry about the tears - when you leave the confessional you will feel God’s love
Wow I cried reading your story. I too try to follow Jesus as best as I can. Peace be with you!

There is no sin God will not forgive when we seek His forgiveness. And there is probably no sin that your priest has not heard before (except perhaps cannibalism ;)). Priests take the sacramental seal very seriously. They are bound by Canon Law to never reveal what you confess, nor even to act on any information you reveal.
This (cannibalism) has happened twice this month in Florida. So, yeah, pretty much nothing new under the sun.

Go. Feel better. 😉

TRUST IN THE MERCY OF JESUS!

satan is enjoying your dispair he will keep you there as long as you let him. Make the Angles in Heaven rejoice by going to confession and telling all.
Just make your mind up to just go and do it. remeber you are fighting him below by going and telling all!!!
Like everyone is saying there is not any sin God wont forgive.
after all Saint Peter denied knowing the Son of God 3 times.
Saint Paul persecuted Christians
and if anyone brings up judas well his greater sin was not trusting God’s Mercy he dispaired of the Mercy of God. which was greated than the betrayal. He could have become a maryter to the confessional if he Begged God for forgiveness.

I think that as we grow spiritually, or after our return to the Church and have confessed all the big stuff, God kind of leads us closer to himself and in doing so, we see ourselves more finely. And this means that we may feel that a certain sin confessed in the past was not sufficiently confessed. This may be true or may be just wrong, what to do when that happens is better to take it to the Confessional. What I eman is that for example, there was a time in my life I confessed just the minimums, but in the recently, a certain event kept coming back into my memory and making me feel guilty, as if the sin was not adequately confessed. Even though sometimes I would have felt the same way, I usually am able to quiten myself by reminding me that I confessed this and I was given absolutin, so away with you devil. However, for this aprticular case, I think God was calling me to a deeper healing, because finally I talked about it during Confession and I think the Priest jolted a bit hearing it. Luckily, I am the type that do not mind if the poor priest gets shocked a bit, I don’t even look up his face until I am done(!). And on that day he gave me a really good advice and asked me to do something very interesting to appease the wrong that I had done (the guy I had wronged was not alive at the time I was confessing ‘properly’…). Since that day I walk with my head high when the devil tries to remind me of that past event. I shout in my soul, “I am guilty no more”.
So I would say that sometimes probably it is a call to finetune it as you go closer to God.
