My husband and I just started RCIA and really enjoying it. However, I am 13 weeks pregnant ( baby#4) , which means I will have a C-section scheduled the day before Easter Vigil! So what will happen if I’m stuck in the hospital? I can only pray that maybe I’ll go into labor early. I am looking so forward to being there.

Need some encouragement.

Your pastor will make sure you and your husband receive the sacrements when you are able to. It may not be the same as being with everyone else at the Easter Vigil, but they still count. You can be received into the Church at any Mass. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi Liz,

Congrats on your forthcoming new addition! :clapping: YAY! 😃

Easter Vigil is the typical time new converts are welcomed into the church, but it is not a requirement. Talk to your catechist or your pastor, and I’m sure they will work with you. You wouldn’t be required to wait another year or anything like that!

I was supposed to receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil this year, but due to a dire family emergency I had to fly across the country and missed the Vigil mass. My catechist and pastor assured me that I could have my own little ceremony at any time, and not to worry. I was confirmed on May 30, the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, to my great, great joy!

Another lady in my RCIA class couldn’t participate in the Easter Vigil because she was deathly allergic to incense. They just did her ceremony privately as well. 🙂

I hope you will not worry about this, and once again, many blessings to you and your child!

Cheers,
Tammy

Let me add my congratulations and prayers with the rest. The Easter Vigil is a very special Mass, however, when ever you are confirmed into the Church it is a special day, and you can look forward to attending the Easter Vigil 2010 and enjoying it with your Catholic family. God bless you!

of course, if your sacraments do get pushed back a week or so, no problem squeezing in another baptism, baby won’t use up much water. congratulations
