I have a problem,I started RCIA and loving every minute of it, but theres a problem. My sponsor came her to frist meeting (my second metting ) and she was DRUNK  How do I tell her that she is welcome to come to the meetings but I do not want her there if she is drunk. (And yes she does have a drinking problem.)

If I were you I’d ask the RCIA leaders for another sponsor. 😉
I agree. Regardless if she is a friend or co-worker, you really need a respnsible sponsor. I would mention it to your leaders and let them handle the ‘situation’.

You have a problem there. I would not allow my sponsor, which is a very important role, to be impaired in any way. Ask your instructor for another sponsor and tell your current sponsor that you take RCIA very seriously and that you need someone who is serious about their faith to stand with you during the process. There is no place for drunken people in sponsorship. Period. So, you have to take a firm stand.

By the way, welcome to the Church! We are SO glad to have you!!!

And, if you happen to be in the Indianapolis area, drop me a line…I’ll stand with you! Anytime!!!

welcome home
ask your RCIA director to appoint a sponsor, and that way you can tell your friend, who is falling down on the job, that you are supposed to work with the sponsor they assign to you. She could be your Confirmation sponsor if she is otherwise qualified, but for the person who accompanies you to the sessions each week you need someone who can participate fully, and can get home without killing herself or someone else.
