Recently at an estate sale I spotted a good number of icons on sale.

One possibility is St. Lucy, but this is going solely by the presence of the lamp. The blue cloak always makes me think Mary, but surely not in this case. I haven’t been able to find any other Lucy icons that match this one, though.

On this one I have no idea.

There was another, but his distinctive uniform identified him as an Auschwitz victim – Maximilian Kolbe.

Can anyone offer suggestions? 🙂

The image is very blurry and I could wish to see more the detail of the neckline of the Virgin and also what she is wearing on her head…but I would say it is either a detail of the Madonna delle Roccie…or it is a rendition of Vergine in Adorazione, both by Fra Filippo Lippi. The distinctions are too subtle for me to discern with this photo’s clarity and resolution.

I think the first icon St Anastasia the Deliverer from Potions, aka St. Anastasia of Rome:

Yes, SyroMalankara is correct that it is Saint Anastasia. The blurry letters beyond her name were too much for what my old glasses could elucidate.

Here is a clearer image of the same representation; you can now obviously read what it says:

Her basilica in Rome, on Via San Teodoo, was so very special to me many many many years ago.

Nice find! Congratulations. I know you’ll treasure them. 🙂

Yes, the pretty little triptych’s center image is a reproduction of a portion of Fra. Lippi’s painting. Don Ruggero is correct. Nicely done.

Wow. Thank you all so much, what an incredible resource this community is! 🙂

Another question, though: as is obvious in the picture, the St. Anastasia icon needs cleaning. I’ve never tried cleaning something as dainty as paint on wood – should I limit myself to water?

Most likely it’s sealed, so a Kleenex dampened with water should be fine. Even if it is a water-based paint, it should be ok. Most furniture is painted with something similar. Just no harsh rubbing.
