Hello,
Recently My girlfriend of four and a half years broke up with me!!! We also have a two and a half year old son together. I am so heartbroken over this and want with all of my heart to be a family still. She is a recovering alcoholic who in the past has also cheated on me twice once with my friend even. I told her that I have forgiven her for all of that. I remember she would ask when are you going to marry me all of the time but I have always sensed that she didn’t truly love me? Yet, I still love her with my whole heart. She is my sons mother and that means so much to me. She tells me that I love you but I"m not in love with you, there’s no passion etc. She has only been in her own apartment for less than two weeks and is already entertaining the flattery of male company for dinner dates. I think she should heal her heart before she tries to put another band-aid over it. I just don’t know what to do I’m so confused. I can’t imagine being with any other woman and having children with someone else. I realize that I am not perfect and God has opened my eyes to that and I have recommited myself to him. Do you think God would want me to always stay commited to us being a family again? I hope so and that is what my heart is telling me. Thank you to anyone who reads this and is willing to respond. My prayers are with you and may the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ walk beside you!!!

Pray, pray and pray some more. Mostly pray to see what God wants for you. If she is not the right person for you He will let you know. Problem is we (us guys mostly) get these blinders on. I had a similar though not as intense situation. Many times and through many people God tried to show me the way. It worked out in the end. It was not a happy time and I was in a funk for a while (thank God for friends!), but eventually I met the woman God had set aside for me. 15 years later we are still together.

Is there anyone you can talk with? How about a Deacon at a church? Most Deacons are married - as well as open to God. Many priests are good too, but most while being open to God are not as familiar to ways of the heart.

I am offering prayers up for you!

Hey Dave, thanks for the advice. It’s nice to know that there are people out there that care even though you don’t know me I appreciate what you’ve said God Bless you friend. Bobby

I ask God to heal you towards peace and clarity, so that you know how to assess things in the most positive and balanced way. I ask God to protect your son from all that is unhealthy and damaging. God grant you all healing, wisdom and authentic love so that each of you can live wholesome, happy lives.

I am sorry to hear that you are going through a tough time. I am sure that you have heard this a million times but things do get better with time and there is a light at the end of the dark tunnel. Lots of people can give you very good advice here and some can just offer their support and prayers to you. But at the end of the day what you do with this information is up to you.

There is a reason why you and your girlfriend never got married it is better that you found out now rather than later what she is capable of doing. The best part of the relationship was your son all you can do now is be there for him and be the best father you can be to him. Don’t worry what she is doing one day she is going to regret it because you sound like a good man and deserve better than what she can give you.

God will not give you something that you cannot handle. Be strong and forgive her for what she has done so that you are able to move on with your own life. There is somebody special out there for you who deserves you.

I was married for 13 years and my ex left me for a teenager. But that is his cross to bear not mine and he is going to have to live with what he has done. And one day when judgement day comes he will have to explain to God why he did what he did to his family. She will regret what she has done one day. Let her go let God be her judge. And that is when the healing starts. I have been on my own now for 2 years with my kids. I spent so much time hating him and hating her and I gave them way too much power over me.

I know how you feel. You feel hurt, betrayed and how can you start all over again and you can. God is there for you open up your heart to him and let him in. There is a special lady out there for you.

God bless and I hope that things get better for you.
