One thing that I believe is all-important in discussing anything with JW’s is that you will never win an argument based upon interpretation of scripture. There is is always this other thing looming over them. No matter how much sense you may make; if you won every argument they threw at you (which is not that difficult to do), what keeps them in line is the fact that if they convert to anything outside of the JW faith, their life would be completely turned upside down; they would be shunned by all other JW’s, including family members and friends. The prospect of that happening is an external pressure that is very hard to overcome and is exactly what identifies them as a cult.
I have argued with them until I am blue in the face and have given them arguments that they have not been able to refute. When they went to the elders for answers, they were told to stop conversing with me.
Just pray for them.
