I have looked the internet over and cannot find a Catholic version of the Bible, a Catholic prayer book, and other Catholic literature in my wife’s native language in Korean. Can anyone help me out and direct me where I can purchase these works in Korean?

Hi Robert…

Below are two website links the first to the Catholic Bishops Conference of Korea and the second to the Catholic Biblical Federation page which has publications in Korean. I am guessing of the two links that the Catholic Biblical Federation may be able to help you the most concerning a Korean translation of the Bible.

In articles I have read online a Korean translation of the Bible was already published in 2002.

Hope you find a Korean bible for your wife! 😃

Down the page alittle bit you will see some Korean publications…

I am in Korea now and can send you items if you wish. If you have a specific preference, you can advise me…

Thanks CSN, I’ll send you a private message.

We are looking for a Catholic Prayer Book in Korean. Also a Bible and even a Catechism if possible.

Thanks for the responses.

For the Bible one. I’ve read online that …sometime before the year 2002, Catholic Koreans had to use Bible that was partially part of Protestants. Recently, they have new translation and all by Catholic.

Thank you for this tip → I’ll make sure I get the update version only !!

Thanks for all the help guys, and especially you CSN. My wife is excited to get these in her native language as it is a struggle for her to read through the scriptures and other material in english.

She is also excited about the book you mentioned in a PM about the Saints.

Yes, really glad I can help.

I will say this → I learned once that when we are faced with our base emotions, we will revert to our native language. As such, for example, when one hits his thumb with a hammer, any blue language will be in the native tongue. Same goes for statements uttered when completely surprised.

And I have found the same to apply to prayer as well. Hearing a prayer in your native tongue can move you in ways that prayers in another language cannot…

Depending on what diocese she lives in there may be Korean parishes nearby. Call the diocese or ask around.

I wanted to post a follow up.

CSN sent my wife right at 50 books directly from Korea! I have no idea what they all are, although I saw pictures of some of the more familiar saints on some of the covers, plus the Catholic Bible was very recognizable. But my wife is in shock and can’t talk so she is unable to explain to me what everything is. She soon will though once she recovers her composure. 😃

It must have taken quite a while to collect all these books. Wow, just wow!

I want to publicly thank CSN as I was unable to get anything in Korean through my local parish, archdiocese, or anywhere online. We had gave up. But thanks to CSN (surely a future saint) my wife now has more of an extensive Catholic library that I do. Wow, I am almost jealous, But one can’t be jealous when one is so full of joy and gratitude.

Thank you so much CSN and thanks to anyone that helped you. 👍

This is positively AWESOME! :extrahappy:

God BLESS you CSN for your generosity.🙂

Wow, if only that were true ! Not saying it can’t happen, but “surely”? No way Jose ! 🙂

Thank you so much for your kind words. It has made everything so worthwhile. You know in the Bible about the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing? I’m not sure if that’s already happened here…but in any event, I don’t mind. Your gratitude has made our day…

Actually, I did not realize it was so many books. We were shopping around here and there, several times, and finally bit the bullet and decided to finish it on one Saturday. So we went to the bookstore ladies and said “What do you recommend?” and I’m telling you, they went nuts. Most of these books were selected literally within 5-10 minutes. God really wanted your wife to have those books !! 👍

Hey, your wife can even start her own library for the other church members 😃

Peace, and I will send you a pm as well…
