I feel I have an opportunity to bring a person to the fullness of truth that is the Catholic faith. From what I understand, she was always kind of searching for God but didn’t know where to turn for faith. In the past year or so, per the promptings of her evangelical friend, started attending an evangelical church and now attends an evangelical university.

Now, it appears that she is not fully indoctrinated into evangelical thought and seems willing to seek the truth, and I venture she has many questions. At this point my only contact with her is probably electronic.

What are some good starting points or ways to show her the truth of Catholicism given her experience?

Thanks so much!

Don’t push it. Just answer the questions and if she wants to talk more about it, let her control the conversation. You can recommend a few books if she is the type who likes to read, “Catholicism for Dummies” is an excellent start or may something by one of the saints like “The Story of a Soul” by St. Theresa. And of course, pray, pray, pray. Let the Holy Spirit do the rest!

Gotcha. I feel like I need to read that book by Mark Brumley: How Not to Share Your Faith.

I amen the previous responses. Be very loving, unashamedly Catholic, yet don’t push. When I was a Protestant, there was a gentleness about Catholics that always left a powerful impression upon me. Be a friend, no matter what happens and over time they may come to the faith.
