That’s encouraging to read! Thanks!
You are most welcome. Just realize that those thoughts are only thoughts, and are not the truth. As Saint Teresa of Avila prays in her “Nada Te Turbe” prayer which is also a song published on a Taize CD:

English Translation:

Let nothing disturb you
Let nothing disturb you,
let nothing frighten you,
everything passes,
but God stays.
Patience reaches it all;
he who has God
nothing lacks:
God alone suffices.
*
Lift your thinking,
raise up to heaven,
let nothing anguish you,
let nothing disturb you.
*
Follow Jesus Christ
with an open heart,
and, no matter what may come,
let nothing frighten you.
*
See the glory of the world?
It’s vainglory;
it is not everlasting,
everything passes.
*
Yearn for the celestial
that lasts forever:
faithful and rich in promises,
God doesn’t change.
*
Love it the way it deserves
immense kindness;
but there is not fine love
without the patience.
*
Confidence and alive faith
let the soul maintain,
that he who believes and hopes 1.
reaches it all.
*
Although harassed by hell
one may see himself,
he who has God
will defeat its rage.
*
Come abandonment,
crosses, misfortune;
God being your treasure,
you lack nothing.
*
Go, then, wordly goods
go, vain happiness;
even if everything is lost
God alone suffices.
In other words, If I lose everything, I still have God and God is enough. I will let nothing disturb me.
Spanish version:

Nada te turbe,
Nada te espante,
Todo se pasa,
Dios no se muda.
La paciencia
Todo lo alcanza;
Quien a Dios tiene
Nada le falta:
Sólo Dios basta.
Eleva el pensamiento,
Al cielo sube,
Por nada te acongojes,
Nada te turbe.
A Jesucristo sigue
Con pecho grande,
Y, venga lo que venga,
Nada te espante.
¿Ves la gloria del mundo
Es gloria vana;
Nada tiene de estable,
Todo se pasa.
Aspira a lo celeste,
Que siempre dura;

Fiel y rico en promesas,
Dios no se muda.
Ámala cual merece
Bondad inmensa;
Pero no hay amor fino
Sin la paciencia.
Confianza y fe viva
Mantenga el alma,
Que quien cree y espera
Todo lo alcanza.
Del infierno acosado
Aunque se viere,
Burlará sus furores
Quien a Dios tiene.
Vénganle desamparos,
Cruces, desgracias;
Siendo Dios su tesoro,
Nada le falta.
Id, pues, bienes del mundo;
Id, dichas vanas;
Aunque todo lo pierda,
Sólo Dios basta.

These thoughts are only thoughts. They have no power. Do not fight them, they will get stronger. Simply ignore them and they will go away.

Fear of Hell is a good, healthy attitude for all Christians to have. It helps us to avoid things that are bad for us and evil.

When the fear of Hell is overwhelming, and interferes with one enjoying his life and doing his duties, then it is time to seek help.

I am making a general statement and not at all judging you Robert. I am not talking about you. Just a disclaimer in case I happen to offend anyone.

In fact, I have read many of your posts over the years and you seem to be a happy, well balanced person. Certainly your posts have helped us live a happy, Christian life.

May God bless you abundantly.🙂

I’m very empathic towards so many people who experience pain, suffering, and hardships (especially the great multitude of those living in extreme poverty).
So is God,

Psalm 34, 18

The Lord is close to the broken-hearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

This too I find to be very uplifting! Thanks again!

Often with odd thoughts that occur to one - it can be best to dismiss them - and not argue with them - as one would a hissing goose. One does not stop to argue with a hissing goose. One keeps walking.

In any case - yes cling to the reality that we are sons in the Son!
