Ok so im stressed out and worried but let me start from the beginning and tell a little about me and my story. I’m currently 26 years old and in my younger days I was addicted to porn and later turned to prostitution. My job didn’t pay well and I was unhappy in my life. I prayed and visited Jesus in the sacrament wanted to change my life get a girlfriend, better job, social life etc. All the sudden my life started to change. I got more involved in my young adult group at church now I have a social life. I’m an intern for graphic design and stopped seeing prostitutes. but here is the great and sad news I met a wonderful woman in my young adult group she was the new girl came back after she visited once a while ago. She is 27 years old very smart went to college and has a lot for her. Her mom is religious and a devout catholic like she and I’m crazy over her we have been together for three months officially we’ve been friends first. And I would love to marry her one day but here is the sad part…

she is black and my mom doesn’t approve of this relationship. My parents were born in Poland and came to the states and are traditional but I want to live my own life and I feel my parents are trying to control me im 26 for crying out loud! And scripture says everyone is equal in Gods eyes I believe there is only one race and its us humans I need prayers I don’t wanna loose her because if someone’s skin color:(:crying::highprayer::crossrc:

Just as there is no Greek or Jew in Christ, there is no black or white. We are all children of Adam, and believers additionally children of God by adoption in Christ. I would speak to your priest, confessor, spiritual director, etc. who knows more about the situation to help discern what you are to do.

You’re a grown man. You can marry any woman who will have you; your parents have nothing at all to do with that decision. Just make sure she knows the truth about your past and vice versa.

I completely agree Khalid God has no favorites. And yes it is my choice and right and she knows my past and our situation my mom doesn’t even want to meet her. It hurts her as well and we pray novenas together and I visit Jesus in the sacrament for my mom to change her harded heart. Guess if I do marry her one day I will always have God as my true parent and father but one day she might come around

Go on with your life. Yes, parents are very important in our lives but if you even think about leaving this woman it would be like saying that your mom is right. Which she is not. Skin color is nothing! It should not be something that stops you from being happy. Maybe God is teaching your mom equality through you and this girl.

You met someone who loves you knows your past is a devout catholic and you are happy together? Don’t lose that! You don’t have to become racist and betray your girlfriend to honor your parents. I would love to have my love life be happy like yours. Don’t let this person get away if she is what you say she is

Well, you could play the historical card. Mixed white-Asian marriages went on for centuries among Polish-Lithuanian nobility of old, and many Poles have at least some slight Asian influence in their facial features. There was also a long tradition of accepting Tartar military settlers and Jewish settlers (some of whom were ennobled, in some cases solely for embracing Christianity) and all sorts of other exotic settlers into the society, not to mention a full range of western-European old countries of all the immigrants. While those guys weren’t exactly black, neither were they ethnically pure Poles if such a thing can even exist.

Otherwise… well, any Pole is impressed to hear a foreigner speak some words in the language. Could be a good ice-breaker.

Plus, Poles are traditionally hospitable. There’s an old adage that says a guest coming to your house is God coming to your house (it’s more concise in Polish). I would be surprise to see even a prejudice Pole ignore hospitality and profer an affront to a guest.

I echo everyone else’s statement, don’t let this slip between your hands because of petty racism! If your parents truly love you (which I would imagine they certainly do) they’ll get over it in time.
