I haven’t purchased a copy of the RSV-CE Second Addition, so I was hoping someone who has a copy can help me out before I go out and buy a copy.

Apparently, the revisions are supposed to conform to Liturgiam Authenticam.

Can anyone tell me whether the phrase “Truly, I say to you” in the Gospel has been changed to “Amen, I say to you” and whether Our Lord’s words were changed in St. Matthew’s Gospel to “Whoever shall call his brother ‘Raca’” instead of “fool”? In other words, does the Second Addition restore the Aramaic phrases that are preserved in the Greek text and the Nova Vulgata as suggested by Liturgiam Authenticam?

Also, has the phrase in the last few psalms of the book of Psalms “Praise the Lord” been changed to “Alleluia” as suggested by Liturgiam Authenticam?

And finally, when Pilate presents Our Lord to the crowds in St. John’s Gospel has the phrase “Here is the man” been changed to “Behold the man”?

Thanks.

I purchased the Second Addition and find the changes you mentioned have not been made. The quotes are “Here is the man”. “Praise the Lord”, “Truly I say to you” and
“fool” is used. So, none of the changes you specifically asked about have come to pass.

Other than the translation I find it a much improvement in readability. I do wish the print was a liitle darker, the pages a little whiter, and more margin space, but I guess one can’t have everything.
