Congrats ChemicalBean! I will keep you in my prayers. I too was an alter server for many years. However, I was considering a religious vocation prior to becoming a server. When female alter servers were first allowed, I jumped at the chance because I wanted to serve God in every way possible. I eventually got married, but I still sometimes wonder if I discerned correctly. The older I get, the more I think that a calling to the religious life, and especially the monastic life, is truly a blessing from God. Best wishes on your journey!
