So I’m confused.

I guess I can call this as me going through a faith/spiritual/religious crisis. This has been going on months and years now.
I’m going back and forth between belief and non-belief in God, and I just can’t decide. I’m stuck right in the middle. It’s the most uncomfortable feeling ever. What should I do, what should I read, research? Where do I turn? Any advice on how I can deal with this?

I’m just about to give up at this point. I’ve never felt so exhausted.

Thanks!

Hello there Tatiana! I would suggest to lookup at the miracles that Jesus did in the modern times and the apparition of the Virgin Mary, the stories of these miracles are so wondrous and great that it made me believe that there’s a real God after reading the stories. Miracles are made by GOD so we people can know Him more and know that He’s true.

Kindly read this:

I don’t know if it will finally help you out but please be patient and search for the truth.

We’ll also pray for you, sister!

‘Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.’ – St. Francis de Sales

I would suggest reading the Bible more. The Gospel of John is a great place to start.

Some believers build faith when they fully commit themselves to serving others.

What are your specific concerns or doubts? Knowing that will help others to offer better suggestions.

Well, if you really cannot decide what to do between agnosticism/atheism and Catholicism, then Pascal’s Wager it. Give Faith a good and hearty try and trust in Him. Being that you’re here, I’d guess you’re leaning to Catholicism anyway, right?
“I believe, Lord. Help my unbelief.”

Just give it a try…try some devotions, go to Mass. If you’re already baptized, try going to a good priest for guidance. What’s the worst that can happen?

While someone is waiting for special feelings and illumination, people of goodwill go where it is most difficult, humanitarian volunteers, or devote themselves to helping others.
They serve others and are rewarded with a strengthening of their faith.
I had another problem, which became a practical disbelief in the very way of life.
In the past I had a struggle with the flesh, and since I am a stagnant bachelor, the flesh gradually dictated a way of life that entailed degradation.
A man even faded in me, and some kind of slob formed.
I decided to take up a power sport. I have practiced regularly to this day, for years.
Life has become a balance, a discipline, self-respect and dignity to my self.
Not only did I not lose faith, but I also affirmed it with good qualities that help to overcome many obstacles and take a responsible attitude towards the time.
I missed a lot in life, because I often do it by my willfulness, and did not listen to God but thanks to sports I think I form a strong personality.
I believe that God will help me in the future with a life partner and prosperity, but power sport helped me to build another person in me.

I would put aside the belief issue and pray for others needier than yourself when the conflicting thoughts arise.

it has a way of redefining one’s focus and some see exactly what God has done in their own life.

I’m not stranger to this type of thing myself. Here’s some advice for you- focus on Christ. Catholics have a wonderful thing available to them- adoration. You should go sometime. Get up and go to church. Pray, read scripture, fast, go to confession, partake of the eucharist (the last two are assuming you’re a baptized and chrismated Christian).
“If you wish to save your soul and win eternal life, arise from your lethargy, make the sign of the Cross and say: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. Faith comes not through pondering but through action. Not words and speculation but experience teaches us what God is. To let in fresh air we have to open a window; to get tanned we must go out into the sunshine. Achieving faith is no different; we never reach a goal by just sitting in comfort and waiting, say the Holy Fathers. Let the Prodigal Son be our example. He “arose and came.”” (Luke 15:20).
~Tito Colliander The Way of the Ascetics

Pray.

You are in conflict because you are relying on your mind to navigate you out of the darkness. Your mind cannot do that. Nothing you read or research can definitively resolve your doubts. Only God can.

I was an atheist once, for half an hour. I spent that entire half hour in prayer, and in tears. At the end of it, God restored my faith.

Do not go searching for surety in the sensory world. It has none to offer. Reach out to God, and he will reach back at you.

Sometimes I ride my bike near the cemetery, and at this moment my heart often breaks, sometimes to tears.
Our life is like the life of that insect that lives for a moment.
What crazy we are.
How we forget everything.
Sometimes it seems that the souls of the ashes of those tombs look at us and are horrified at our life waste and madness.
The question is, in fact, that the vineyards are neglected, time is wasted in vain, vanity takes over our time and life.
And no one will get a second chance in earthly life.
I think that such walks along the cemetery, and attending a funeral, and visiting the sick are also useful.

Turn off the noise in your life. Pray. Do good. Read the Word of God, especially the New Testament
